Truck driver b.s.

I went to right near JFK every Saturday night I had the option to go which ever way was moving .

The Saturday before going through Brooklyn with the Towers to my left my danger Will Robinson alarm went off.

A few days later I knew why.

 

Well got told I’m going to start hauling our equipment around. I was in the running to start digging utilities but our transport guy got the position so I get to take his position hauling equipment.

 

Better then getting told your being laid off.

Dentist and blood draw today. Fun stuff.

I can take dog to Vet. and go next door to dentist.

 

Short day today, only 9 hours. And I got a sizeable profit sharing check that I didn't expect. Started out snowey but then just became wet on the roads, everything else is covered in a few inches. No shoveling for me again, driveway is almost clear. I gotta work tomorrow but I'll take their money. I get next weekend off. All things considered it wasn't a bad day.

 

Last bonus I got was $100.00 for 20 yrs. Kinda insulting.

 

Thats kinda like wifes severance pay 26 years and they offered $200.00 when they closed the resturant. She told them to keep it they needed it more than her. #1 reason we don't eat at Outback, Carrabba's , Bone Fish Grill ! They definitely don't take care of their employees.

Craziest story from 9/11 I heard from a FedEx driver around 2011.

He was a long haul driver at that point but on that day he was a route driver... Who's area included the 40-65 floors of the south tower.

He told me every day for 10 or so years he would be right in the middle of where the plane hit... But for some reason the plane was late from Memphis that morning so he was just getting on the way and seen it hit.

When he told that story I had chills.

Been a rough year... But I'm still hanging in there.

Just found out today that the company is making a supplemental deposit to all employee's 401(k) accounts, sounds like it's substantial. Profit sharing bonus to be announced in 2 weeks. Glad to be working for a company that gives a damn about their employees.

 

Saturday morning, I finally made it to the end of the week! I hope it's a short day today.

 

Snowed here Thurs night and only 2 of our linehaul guys went out. Because of that, we had nearly nothing to deliver...I went out with 4 skids for 3 deliveries. About a quarter of our city drivers ended up going out and doing Thurs night's linehauls. Monday, we'll have almost 2 days worth of of deliveries, yay.

 

4.5 hours today and I'm done! Was an easy day.

 

Back at it. Truck in the shop. Got me in a slow ass pos international.

 

I've been in a p.o.s. rental international for over a month now because my truck is still in the shop for the exhaust leak.
Monday, not used to the stupid time change. Internal clock will take awhile to reset.

Yes it is. Over a million miles. Maybe getting a new rig this spring or summer. We'll see.
