Make sure you buy a new gasket the Doug thorley gasket supplied is horribly designed , I bought a beck and arnely which was half the cost and looked oem

The Thorley header was the easiest one I've ever installed on any vehicle. Just unbolt the exhaust manifold and install the header. You'll need a new gasket between the header and the down pipe. I ordered the wrong one, so my truck had a horrible-sounding exhaust leak for the first week until I received the correct one. And I see no need to raise the engine; I didn't have to.

Mine is a north Texas truck, so I had no problem with rusted nuts and bolts.

I sprayed all the bolts with pb blaster and let it soak overnight. Everything came out without too much trouble.

i just have to figure out how to re attach the exhaust clamp, because I can’t get it back around the bracket. So I’ll most likely just get a different clamp.

The included gasket is a fairly thick and doesn’t look nearly as sophisticated as the OEM one. All header bolts were torqued down to 25lbs, except the lower left bolt, which had to be tightened by hand due to space limitations.

Took the truck for a spin and it feels slightly upgraded from “really slow” to “regular slow”. I’m sure the 4-speed automatic isn’t doing me any favors. there is a slight throaty growl at WOT, plus a little more headroom at the top end. Can’t tell if any bottom end torque is different.

I used the Thorley gasket and have had no problems. In fact, when I installed the correct gasket for the down pipe, I thought I might need another header gasket, so I bought another one from Thorley. Turns out I didn't need it, so now I have an extra gasket if I ever do need it.

Do u have a link to the correct lower gasket you had to order? I have my DT header in the garage ready to go on, want to make sure I have everything before I get started.

The part number is a Walker 31384. You can find it on their site: walkerexhaust.com.

Coilovers, sway bars, wheels, tires, extended studs, intake, head and taillights, seats, short shifter,
LCE still offers their longtube header for 2RZ trucks from 95.5-04, but some modification is required if your truck has dual cats.

I installed mine this weekend. Super easy. Didn’t notice any change in sound (running a factory style muffler) ignore all the dirt and dust as the truck has been sitting in the garage since last show season. Lol.

Here we are three years later. I’ve bought an F150 and have given up on trying to squeeze any extra hp out of the 2.4L for towing. I never installed the header so it’s still brand new in the original box with all the accessories it came with. I don’t have 50+ posts so TW won’t let me post a FS add.

That setup seems like it would heat the air flow, cancelling the point of an aftermarket cool air system.

The header is ceramic coated so that may help with under hood temps.

Not even close to what the factory heat shield does.
