I'm putting a rear facing Garmin dashcam in my Tac. For power I'll need a constant 12v source as well as a switched 12v. Any convenient places to tap in back there? Go under the carpet to the center console?

Tried to find a wiring diagram online but no luck.

    Thanks!

I had a similar dilemma last month when I was wiring up my rear facing Garmin Mini 2 as well.

What I ended up doing was adding it to a 5A circuit of my Auxbeam controller. I then ran a new wire set through the cab firewall, then through the doorwell channel, then made a USB termination in the rear utility area. Turned out classy and works well. I can turn the rear camera on when needed with a simple press of a button.

    Auxbeam Switch:

Wiring Lead Bundle that I created:

    Auxbeam Relay block:

End Result with a decent view:

You'll find both at the amplifier connector.

That would be a very long wire to the rear window.

I probed around pretty good & did not find constant 12v on the 24 pin connector. I did find it on the white wire on the top connector. I found 12v switched on the 24 pin, grey wire (see photo below, and yes I'll be covering that solder joint lol)

Thanks to all for the help, camera is working perfectly!

If you revisit post #3, it shows IGN (Switched) on the 24 pin (S23) connector and constant on S31, as you have it now.:smack::rofl:

Oh man, you guys are doing it the hard way if the camera is in the back window. For switched power, go off the ceiling mirror wire, for power, go up the A pillar from any hot lead on the fuse box with a add a fuse tap and then go along the headliner along the right side - you can stuff the wire under the headliner edge without having to take it down anywhere. Then in the back corner go down behind the back seat or up over it.

My reading of your diagram also showed 12v constant on pin 1&5 on the 24 pin connector.

Shows what I know about wiring lol.

    Thanks again!

No, seriously! ;) Or did I miss something?

the routing I used on mine along the side of the headliner works very well and snuggly hides the cable from the mirror all the way to the back of the cab.

I have a 2021 trd offroad, does not have a sub or amp.
Question is, can I use a 24 pin wiring harness to wire the back up camera into the S23 connector. Giving it a "plug and play" install.
    Screenshot_20240308_160819_DuckDuckGo.jpg
Im hoping that even without amp, the cables are still there. I haven't taken the rear apart yet to verify if male wiring harness is there.
What are your thoughts on this?

Test the pin at the unused connector for juice.

I just finished tearing the rear apart. The cable harness isn't there, so I guess I will have to try something else to get 12V to the rear dash cam.
