    Hey Guys,

Need some advice. Saw a 2016 Tacoma Listed for sale however it was flooded in fresh water up to just above the silver open door hinge .(see attached pic) This happened sometime late last year, its titled as Non Repairable and the current owner has it from November to now but is selling it saying he needs the money.. he said all he did was change oil and did a transmission drain and the truck has been working perfect ever since. He says its only the Airbag light staying on the dash however he has no issues according to him.. What are your thoughts? He's selling it for a reasonable price.

The problems might not show up until months/years later in the form of corroded electrical connections which will be difficult to diagnose.

I would always ask a guy needing money about his flooded truck. Really? I am sure the guy is honest but do you want to chase gremlins? In some states you can’t pass inspection with a check engine or airbag light.

Not sure the state, but you can't usually register a "non-repairable" to be driven on the road. The title exists for parts only cars or burned out shells. Stay away.

    OME and worth every penny.
Seriously would have to be cheap. That deep is a guaranteed problem somewhere. I mean it already did in the body/airbag ECU.

Agree with this. If you must, check to see if it can be registered/insured.

    Run away fast!

Fresh water, salt water or toilet water, flooded is flooded. You'll find an endless list of repairs and electrical gremlins for as long as you'd own that truck. Plus you'll never be able to re sell it to anyone else. Nobody would buy it.

Insurance companies will take the cheapest way out, so if they don’t want to fix it,, why should you?

also, there’s a very good chance the owner is just a snake flipper that has an in to buy these POS’s, there’s lots to be made, as people buy them in hopes of getting something for nuthin.

I can’t find the video now, but a friend of a friend was surf fishing in central Baja 10 years ago. Over the day they walked up and down this long Sandy Beach, and when they noticed the tide was coming in, they ran back to their 2003 tundra and it was too late. Long story short is the water came through the windows and the surf pounded the windshield. They finally got it towed out and the video shows the door locks randomly opening and closing in rapidfire succession. Water and electronics do not mix.
