Well 1 year 3 months and 10,277 miles into ownership. Had to have the timing cover resealed and now a new battery. Thankful that it is all covered under warranty. But after owning many Toyota’s with honestly no issues… just a little flustered that my first Taco had to start out like this. Here’s to better luck in the future! Rant over! :)

My power steering pump went out at 338 miles on my 2023 tacoma. Now with 600 miles the rear is making noise. I’m at the dealer right now oh and the dash or trim panel on passenger side rattles like crazy over bumps. I know just small issues but doesn’t exactly scream quality, durability

I think the 2GR-FKS will not be remembered fondly by future generations haha

I think it will be one of the last modern day engines still standing 20-30 years from now due to the d4s and quality of the engine. Oil leaks yes, but still running

Ultimately time will be the judge....

As they get up on years and mileage I wouldn't bet the farm

After owning GM products and most recently Mopar, the 2GR-FKS looks like a rockstar for sure.
Mopar is currently getting sued for their roll in the previously thought of "bombproof" 3.6 Pentastar. After my Mopar experience the Toyota engine seems a pillar of strength.

Exactly the issue I went theough, which was valve tic, right at the dreaded 90k.

After spending $2700-something to get the upper engine rebuilt after the ticking started on a long cross country trip, I decided then and there to sell the JK. I got more than 4k over MSRP when I sold it, and haven't looked back.

Horseshit Chrysler quality aside, the Wrangler resales is great! I had an old JK with the 3.8 (I bought it used), it started burning oil at about 75k miles (as predicated) and traded it for about $1,500 less than I paid for it nearly 3.5 years before.

I can speak to this. In 2020 I bought a 2012 wrangler with 73K for $23,600. In october I traded it in with 89k when I bought my Tacoma... got $23,200. Mechanical issues aside, the wrangler's resale value is by far its strongest aspect.

When I got my 2020 tacoma, it came with a dirty passenger side access cab door switch. I had to spray some electrical contact cleaner to cure the issue. Some told me it was a lemon, and I should file for the lemon law.

No lie, I got a LOT more than I ever expected from the sale of my 2013 Pentastar JK.
After owning my first Toyota/Tacoma I haven't regretted my decision for even a minute.
