She was hanging out while I waxed it.

 

Champ was put to rest today. He was such a good boy.

Maybe a little over a decade ago, I took Champ to a lake near our house when we were living in Savannah. He was a young pup and had never seen a large open body of water before, so he didn’t particularly know what it was. I coaxed him to get close to the water with treats, then threw a piece in… He walked straight into the water without even knowing it lol. He swam out of the lake a little distrustful, but came right back up to me. So what did I do? I threw another treat in the lake of course lol. I swear I saw him smirking at me like “you’re not fooling me again!” then he took off running across the field and wouldn’t come back for a solid 5 minutes! Ha! This was my favorite memory of him. I’ll miss you old boy. Rest well my friend.

 

Sad day here too. Bindi crossed the rainbow bridge last night just a few days shy of his 14th birthday. He was living with my daughter the past 6 years or so, but sad to know I'll never see him again. He wasn't much of a water dog either until my brother's dog taught him the ropes.

Tough to lose a good friend -

This gal woke up fine one morning, danced and pranced for breakfast. I went out for a photo-shoot and an
hour later found her shivering on the bed in bad shape. Before I could prep the car for a run to the vet she
was gone - BOOM - man I hope I go out that fast.

She was a rescue dog, loyal and very protective - I slept damn good at night knowing if anyone came into my
house she would take their fking leg off. Never had a dog like this and of course like the others, there will never
be another like her.

Here's a toast to all of our best friends.

Had to say goodbye to one of my best buddies Bear last September. I still break down thinking about him being gone. It was a true privilege to have had him with me for 12 years. Giving his little brother Dakota all the love we can with Bear being gone.

I hate when that day comes. It’s the worst time and the hardest thing to do. My heart goes out to all guys that have recently gone through it. The whole reason why I bought my double cab truck was so my golden, Boone had room to get into the back and be comfortable. For months and months after I put him down, I carried his collar with me, so he was still always with me.
Now Tucker, my current Golden wears his collar. So a piece of Boone is still here.

 

I may or may not have a well worn collar tucked under my driver’s seat. We do what we must.

 

Breaks my heart hearing all of this. Lost my Meisha 3-18-24. This was her last day. Enjoying the sun on a final ride. Nothing has felt right since. She was 5 months from her fifteenth birthday.

 

Here's our old fat boy, it was his first summer getting out truck camping and safe to say he loved it.

Maybe loving dogs is a way we do penance for all the other illusions we allow ourselves and the mistakes we make because of those illusions."
