So this happened when neighbors borrowed my truck to go pick up a couch.
Before I start this project, was wondering if anyone could offer some guidance

    1. Best place to get an all-metal radiator replacement?
    2. Should I try to flush the remaining coolant that might be still in it, out? and start fresh? (It’s old) usually when I flush a coolant system I have a working radiator, so not sure how to approach this.
    3. Should I go ahead & replace thermostat & maybe even waterpump for good measure? Pump is OE

would like to thank the Tacoma Gods in advance

    4 run, 2 don't
    Denso radiator.

    New cap.

Easy job, no more than 1 hour max.

If you're going as far as replacing the water pump, you're talking new timing belt (and associated components) as well which is an even larger job.

I second a Denso radiator. Be mindful, there are 3 sizes, if you get one different than your current the fan shroud might not fit properly.

I’d definitely flush- pull the radiator (not relevant in your case), run garden hose through top hose port. Same for through engine, pull thermostat, flush, then reinstall/replace thermostat/hoses. I usually do a coolant flush kit. 50/50 premix of green or Toyota red (or cut concentrated coolant with distilled water). Don’t mix types, my understanding is ph differences turn coolant acidic and can cause cavitation in coolant passages.

Proper maintenance for coolant replacement is 30,000 miles. With a new radiator you’re removing a lot of contaminants so not sure if a flush kit is necessary if you put the same coolant type back in, I’d do it to get everything cleaned up, heater core would probably benefit.

Timing belt/water pump every 90,000 miles.

Agreed, radiator swap is an easy job, not 1 hour for me lol but still not bad. Rock Auto has lots of options. As mentioned the water pump is internal and a royal pain in the arse, don't fix it if it isn't broke.

Curious. Is that number from a 1st gen manual?

It would really be nice to know what engine and if this is the 2017 or another truck?

You have to do some searching for a all Metal Radiator I know CSF did have an all metal radiator.

Denso makes a good product but still has the plastic tanks which I think are a pain for emergency repairs far from home.

Radiators are so cheap on these vehicles it is no longer cost effective for local shops to repair them.

    Good luck!

I am sorry I can not tell what year or engine this is from the picture .

Because the sizes are different . Brass and copper radiators from other vehicles can be used but never mind.

What does your picture show but a cracked tank ?

At one time those tanks could be replaced but now that the new price of radiators is so low .

The cost of the tank and labor is more then a new radiator.
