Finally placed my order, ETA should be early march if their estimates are correct.

I've got a bit of a donor problem though... It's amazing what people will unload on marketplace for cheap. Too bad the FJ case I picked up is complete garbage (Bearing blew up and took out a bunch of stuff).

I'll probably sell the pieces I dont need once I have mine built.

You're comparing the total craw ratio to just the transfer cases.

With the NWF just the cases is 2.57x2.57 = 6.6.

Total craw ratio will depend on trans and R&P, my truck came out to 123:1 with the NWF box.

I had Marlin duals in my last truck. The various gear ratios were awesome. We rounded the ratios so it was basically 50:1, 100:1 and 200:1 in double low. Now with the NWF duals you dont have that ultra low secondary gear option do you only get 123:1. Which is were I spent most of the time in my old truck anyways. Double low was not used very often unless super technical.

I am excited to have something over 100:1 again.

Awesome!! It's a shame that it's under the truck and you really can't see it. Such a nice looking piece! I really liked this project, and had fun installing. Hope you have the same results.

Also to follow up, mine will have been in for a year in 2 weeks with zero issues and zero leaks.

As I pulled my driveshafts I realized that my RCI transfer case skid will need to be extensively modified to cover the new length. I wonder if RCI will cut me a longer one. I've already done a exhaust reroute so if I need to get a new one, it's mostly a flat plate.

I had the same issue with the Mobtown transfer skid I had. I ended up scrapping it and the cross member because none of it would work. I got just the transfer skid cross member from Bay Area Metal Fab and had a local fab shop make a skid that I drew up in CAD. Worked out great!

    20220814_134220.jpg

Ended up adding some gussets after the fact. I bent it some on it's first outing. Now that the skid is longer and further into the middle of the truck it ends up hitting a little more on breakover.

These top two mounting bolts are a pain to get to.

For future reference on the top two Eco-Crawler mounting bolts. Take out the transmission cross member and lower the back of the transmission down. You can then get at those bolts from under the truck, using a half moon wrench gives even better acess. Actually the whole project is easier with the transmission off the cross member and hanging down and supported on a jack or stand.

I forgot to mention... I got the same shift knob and ran a 12mm x 1.25 tap into the the exsiting threads. It worked and tightened up fine on the FJ Cruiser shifter I used.

Yep, this was my next plan. Hopefully I will get time this weekend to do this.

Sweet, I think I even have that tap.

Had some issues with it popping out of gear as I let off the gas. Pulled the cases and split the ecocrawler. I can find nothing wrong. Shifted the fork back and forth, made sure the shift collar was fully seated, checked for odd wear on the collar and associated parts and found nothing. I did some extra clearancing on the trans, but my 2nd gen manual does not require any (I measured, and checked the shift socket movement) I did have it pointed out to me that the most recent manual says.

So i grabbed the stiffest spring I had in my pile of parts (see above posts showing how many cases I have) and while it was obviously a stronger detent when shifting it still popping out of gear. I notice that when I am off the gas and decelerating it becomes very easy to push the shifter, far easier then shifting when at a stop. I'll order the springs they recommend (90501-18091) and see if it improves. I'll also call NWF on Monday and see what they say. They were extremely helpful the last time I talked to them.

Did you swap out the lowery planetary whatever gear on the bottom of your input?

The OEM one from the tacome is cut at a different depth than the FJ one and will not allow the crawl box to seat properly.

Yep... plus, when it's engaged with those teeth its in low gear. This happens when in high.

I had issues with both high and low engaging properly before swapping that gear. Nothing works right if that gear is wrong.

I have the proper gear in there. My donor was a manual J-Shift case.
