Hello all, I recently was looking into some body armor (Hybrid front bumper by C4 fab) and was informed I would need heavier load springs. I just recently bought a 2015 Tacoma TRD pro in the inferno color (I love it but paid way too much, I bought my TRD offroad three years ago for $22k at 70k miles and this at $29k @ 93k miles) I would like to know what companies make shocks with springs you can swap out with heavier load springs and if I should just stick with the stock TRD springs. How necessary are the springs?IMG_1459.jpg

The springs hold the weight. Google: Bilstein, King, Fox, Icon. There are others.

My suggestion would be to install the parts you've bought and then drive the truck for a bit before making any suspension changes. If you don't have an issue with the ride height or how it drives, leave it. Many of us have a habit of fixing problems that don't yet exist and may never exist. This is why in this case you should take it one step at a time.

But if at some point you decide you DO need a suspension upgrade and need a custom spring rate, hit up the guys at Accutune Offroad. I got my Fox DSC system with a custom valved and sprung setup from them.

Spring loads will completely depend on HOW much weight, so you need to know that first. Then we can help by giving you options on what springs you should be researching based off what kind of load you'll have. If we tell you go with 800lb load springs, and you only added 300 lbs, your truck will drive like a chuck wagon and you'll be most unpleasant and unhappy...so know your load first. edit, and are you also looking to lift the truck or just heavier rated springs? edit once more...nice truck as well!!

I would say get the bumper installed, see where the truck sits then order a set of shocks/springs based on the increased total weight. (you can call a lot of these companies to get answers, you will want to know how much your whole bumper package weighs, lights bumper winch so on.

The pros and the bajas came with pretty aggressive spring rates from what I remember.
Whatever you do, don't put a puck lift or preload collar lift the front end after install.
