I’m too young I guess? I only owned two cars and both have been 3rd gen. First an access cab 4cyl auto that I had to trade in for a 4 door off road which I am planning to keep until my 4 year old kid learns to drive?

You're missing two gens of the hilux, 1984-1988 and 1989-1994.

Toyota's since 1981 BUT 1st truck, '85 Hilux, 4x4 ,4 speed with an AM radio & manual locking hubs ;)

Waited a bit for Toyota truck # 2 but it was a '99 Tacoma 4x4, X-cab with 5 speed and that was replaced in '02 with another Tacoma 4x4 ,X-cab but

this time automatic ; that one I should have kept :(:( Toyota did all of the Campaigns too it; new frame, ball joints and spare tire carrier ..

It made the trip to Florida in 2014 pulling a U haul trailer but the grandkids out grew the smaller cab size and it got replaced by an Lexus SUV..

Now I've cycled back into an '02 Toyota Tundra 4x4 Limited X-cab , much bigger cab than the Taco's of that time frame :cool:

    17 tacoma - 4wd auto 6cyl

Rode in and drove earlier. Especially the 87, but didnt own. Would love to find a clean 80's one now. So impossible.

Also owned a Mitsubishi and Mazda truck during those days. Pretty crappy compared to the toyotas. Also F150s and a F250. They were better than the Toyotas, but not as nimble on and offroad. Cars aside, thats the trucks. Not sure where the Suzuki Samurais fall.

I’d send three babies to prison for that first truck. Same condition as pic though.

Also two babies for @Rusty66 second pic same condition as pic.

I am loser. Other than an 80’s 4Runner my 2016 is my first Toyota truck.

    93’ 4x4 pickup
    03’ taco 4x4 SR5
13’ taco 4x4 built first trophy LT truck
16’ tundra 4x4 still in the family
19’ tundra 4x4 built mid travel truck
    20’ 4R pro
    21’ Sequoia pro
07’ tundra ~ converted to 14’ front end 2wd 2nd trophy LT truck
23’ taco pro - in build stage at factory

only one that’s in the fam still is the 16’ tundra 4x4. The others, I built up and sold to people that made offers I couldn’t refuse

kinda ironic but first truck I got @16 in HS 40 yrs later, now 56, still got that itch for modding!

First toyota pickup was a 4wd 1978 wolverine. Sold it for a 1979 toyota 4x4 manual 4 speed. After beating it to death in the northern Quebec woods, sold it for a 1984 sr5 4x4 that had an engine failure 2 years later. I traded it for the new 1986 EFI sr5 4x4 automatic. In 1994, I made a deal buying a 1993 leftover 4x4 v6 pickup that came with no ac....dealer said no one wanted a new truck with no ac. Well I did for $9k which the dealer finally took a month later. Sold it in 2001 for a tundra sr5 4wd...best truck owned till I bought my 2020 tacoma which is even better.
