You nailed it! I did this because I enjoy it and I’m just not will to spend that much on a new 4x4 one that I’ll rarely use (I’d be scared to go muddying in a $45k truck) so I built my own. There wasn’t just minimal help there was none. I just moved here and don’t have friends yet so I had to work it out myself. Outside the frame I bought a lot of the parts on Black Friday, dealerships parts department will throw sales on that day. I tried to sell it for about what I had in it (got $30k in it with parts and tools, put it up for $33k) just so I could do another possibly cheaper with my experience and leftover parts but I got aggravated with low ballers so I decided to keep it. If I were to do another I’d pick a flooded one as long as the water isn’t above the engine and it’s not saltwater. I can do mechanical but body work and painting I had to pay for. Anyway if you need information just ask, that’s why I did this forum. Btw, I got some Clazzios and they look bomb as hell

What price range makes sense for a flood truck?

I rebuilt my Jeep Jk, that's currently for sale, that I bought off Copart last year. The rebuild inspection, in CO anyways, is surprisingly easy! I'd have skipped a ton of stuff had I know that. Depends on your state, though.

That’s going to depend on a lot of things. The most sought after would be the 3rd gen 4x4 double cabs. If water made it up to the dash then it’s possible it messed up the electronics, also possible it didn’t as long as you dry them out BEFORE putting power on it. I think one a couple of years old will go for 16-18k but you may have to watch for a while, fortunately the app is very helpful. Don’t forget to add shipping in your estimate! I used someone other than Copart suggested and got it cheaperthrough Amerifreight. To ship from Penn to Alabama was $1700 so if you can pick a lot closer to you than I did

Man, almost same experience lol. I planned to try and flip the jeep for profit. But I LIKE doing the building part, and went overboard on it. If I can sell if for $35k I'll maybe make a few bucks, literally, in profit. And I'll buy another project to try and flip. I'm seeing some AWESOMELY priced supercars in the $30k price range with flood damage. That'd be cool to own. But won't make my decision on what it'll be till I sell the current rebuild
