    I have a 2019 2WD Tacoma SR5 with 95,000 miles and the dealer is trying to get me for the following:
    • Brake System Flush $161.80
    • Fuel Induction Clean $120.46
    • P/S Fluid Concern $161.15
    • Rear Diff Service $270.89
    • Transmission Flush $275.02
    • Tune-Up Tacoma V6 $363.72
    • Wheel Alignment $107.80
    I'm not having any issues with the truck currently. Please help me sort this out...Should I agree and let them complete all of the services? Should I shop around for better prices? What are your thoughts? Thanks!

    Never hurts to shop around for better prices, but of course need to be careful; you consider reputable, quality shops.

    My 2017 has 91K miles, so far I have done all my own oil/filter changes. I have not changed spark plugs, coolant, P/S or brake/clutch hydraulic fluids... I am seriously considering having my local Dealership do the following for me at ~100K miles just for peace of mind:

    * Brake fluid system flush/replace
    * Clutch fluid flush/replace
    * Fan belt(s) replace
    * Spark plug change
    * Coolant flush/replace
    * Check all U-Joints for slop, need to be replaced

    If it wasn't a complicated effort, I would also have them check the clutch plates and throwout bearing. I had another truck that lost the throwout bearing at just over 100K, it ended up destroying the clutch plates as well so that repair ended up being much more $$$ than it could have been.

    Should have also included:

    Not sure what is included with a rear diff service, other than a drain and fluid change. I've done my own so far, about every 40-50K miles.

    Also not too sure on "fuel induction clean". I can see if an engine/fuel system had 250K+ miles on it, a cleanout would not hurt. But with modern fuels and engines.... <100K miles, this doesn't sound like a necessary thing - unless the engine is running poorly. And even then, a tune up and possibly a change in brand of fuel is what I would do first, and then only come back for a fuel induction clean process if you were still having serious engine problems.

    The quote for wheel alignment seems a bit high, but not sure where you are located. I can imagine that cost in some parts of the country. When I had new tires put on my truck in October 2022, the local shop did an alignment check for free, said my truck was spot on and didn't need an alignment, so not sure what they would have charged. I'd make sure any shop does a free alignment check before they just barrel ahead and do an alignment and then charge you $$$. If the alignment is good to go, then they didn't need to do anything - hence no legit reason to charge you for an alignment.

    A few.
    Im surprised there isnt a coolant flush on that list also.
    It depends if u do any of ur own maintaince?
    Spark plugs are due at 60k miles, wheel alignment I wouldnt do unless ur buying new tires or its pulling to one side going down the road. Differential fluid is easier to change than the engine oil. Do a search on youtube and take a look. Might be better to do a drain and fill for the transmission instead of a flush at this point.

    The Wheel Alignment is a good price. The rest you can do yourself at 1/3 the cost. Tune up? What’s included, spark plugs? Transmission flush, is that a flush or drain and fill? Rear Diff service, is that a drain and fill?

    My 2016 is at about 95k now and I received a similar laundry list of recommendations last time I had it in. IMO, unless you've had issues with the brakes, power steering, or fuel systems I wouldn't flush them (I'm sure some will disagree). To me, those are basically sealed systems, or should be, and unless you're at extremely high miles shouldn't need touched (Again, I'm sure some would argue that).

    I am taking mine in Friday and having them do oil change, trans flush, and tire rotate. I am going to do the diffs and transfer case myself. Basically I look at this stuff on a basis of cost of materials and cost of my time.

    I also am very curious what they would include in a "tune up", that wasn't something on my list from the dealer, but unless that includes plugs and wires it seems like a total racket to me.

    EDIT: Here is the list of services they recommended for me when I was in along with the prices. Apologies for the screenshots, I know they're annoying...

    I just hit 80,000 on my 17 and had both differentials and transmission flushed. I asked about changing the fuel filter and was told those are internal and to get it replaced they would have to pull the pump. :burnrubber:

    I had the brake fluid changed.($80) It didn’t look hard but I’m an old fart.
    I looked at changing the differential(s) and transfer case that looked easy but I’m older so will have that done also. Note there are lube joints that should be greased including universal joints. total should be 1.5 hr labor plus fluids.

    The transmission change isn’t too hard either but really should be done by a very qualified technician as proper fluid level is set by temperature.
    With that said if I was 48 not 68 I’d do everything except the transmission myself.

    Just got a quote from my local shop. It was $140 each for the differentials and transfer case. $240 for transmission drain and fill. I am having the work done Thursday. Thanks for the push

    Seems to me like differential fluid changes are overpriced not just here but everywhere you go. Looks like a very simple procedure..just making a general statement here.

    Re: these prices actually look ok (except for the differential fluids which are overpriced everywhere)
    I am not sure what the fuel induction is-is it cleaning the TB or just dumping a can of cleaner in your tank?

    I would be inclined to have them change the brake fluid (good price, should be done periodically), tune up-good price if it includes plugs, PS-maybe.., skip the wheel alignment unless you need it or are getting new tires. Perhaps see if they have wiggle room on the rear diff.
