She is smart enough to tell you what you want to hear, but not smart enough to not get caught.
I have had a self managed job for 35 years. I have seen some extreme abuses. They always get caught.

    Useless trivia....

The very first experience I ever had with below 0*F temperature, was January 1986, I was in Army Advanced Training at Redstone Arsenal - Huntsville, AL [October 1985 - April 1986]. There was a severe cold snap for a couple weeks in late January, it was -20*F for almost 2 full weeks. The cold was all across the south. The cold was ultimately the reason the o-rings on the Space Shuttle Challenger froze, and caused the shuttle explosion on launch. We even had about 6" of snow at Christmas 1985 on base, but didn't get any more after that.

We run into this with young people constantly we have them wanting to be more involved in the rescue and when the ladies set something up a while back and tried to invite them to a meeting. The response was we throw darts on that night and can’t make it. They set up another night and after over a hour they still didn’t show but they were on the way they said the ladies said do not bother. Then they get mad and respond that they have lives. It’s hard to get anyone under 40 you can count on these days.

I tried the south river a little this morning but where I was is very exposed and the wind is cutting this morning. So I’m going to hide in the mountains!

    Gotcha.
Working from home does take a certain personality to make it work. And if you're not used to a normal working environment you can't appreciate the need to be productive. When COVID hit everyone at my work was told to work at home. Most have returned to the office but a handful are still WFH. Couple people got fired because they were falling so far behind it was obviously not working to have them WFH. They screwed around a lot in the office anyways so the writing was on the wall there...
I've been WFH since April 2020 and love it. Did go back for about a month in September 2020 but there were so many distractions and crap I felt like I was less productive there than at home. So I asked if I could stay WFH and so far so good. I did get accused of not pulling my weight a while back but I asked HTF was that possible? I'm the only one who does what I do! If I don't do my job I've got 25-30 guys standing around our shop doing nothing. That's plenty of motivation to keep me focused. Yeah, I take a TW break here and there or maybe unload my dishwasher, fold a load of clothes but I also don't take a "coffee" break or lunch break so I figure it evens out.
Says the guy on an internet forum in the middle of a workday...

    Good morning everyone.

Good grief! Here's to the speediest recovery ever documented for that injury!

You were much more patient then most would have been. I got floored at ' she was already requesting leave through you'... The last job at the thermoforming company was eye opening, as far as general labor was concerned. I'd say that 90% of the hourly workers didn't have a high school diploma and their 'demands' for pay rate and other compensations were out of this world.

For clarification it's actually worse than that! She didn't ask me for leave...she already planned it, bought plane tickets, then didn't advise me of it until I inquired when I heard it through other staff! Yup.....I don't want to say they're entitled, but they clearly get their views on what reality is from reality tv or something....stuff that just isn't true!

With the cold and snow I think we appreciate Spring more. We can tell spring is close even with all the fresh snow we've gotten. The Sandhill Cranes are back. Geese are coming back, we always have some hang around and raise the little ones. Last week the black birds started showing up. I wish you folks down south would keep those damn things.

What's worse than those black birds are the opossums and raccoons and armadillo 's that comes out at night when I'm on my way home. But it has been warming up very little and I've noticed bumblebees coming out.

Just got back home from getting new tires installed on my Tacoma . These are 265/75-16 Toyo Open Country AT3 tires . I'm very impressed on the ride quality and no road noise
