Wonder if they are having traffic related issues with the limited-edition brakes they are doing.

31.8 is absolute GARBAGE! Might as well give that bar away to me. As consolation, I'll pay for shipping :D

Ya I believe that. I bought the carbon Renthals on my last SJ just for a nice upgrade and I wanted to try a slightly higher rise. (I've always liked higher rise bars in BMX and on my dirtbikes.) So if I get a stem so I can run those on the new bike, I like the Renthal apex stem but it is pricey too. So just keep going back and forth on if I should get the stem and run the bars or just get a 35mm bar for the new bike. Going to 35mm, the Oneup bars sound like they have some nice flex to them, which I think I would like, since I'm used to a 31.8mm bar anyways. The new bike feels totally different in every way so I am still unsure on rise etc until I ride it a bit. Not sure if it is just in my head or not but I really seemed to like the feel of the carbon bars better than the stock on my last bike, so that was why I was already wanting to change. But not a big deal. Just figured I'd get some opinions. Thanks everyone.

Unless you just want matchy matchy, which is fine if you do, there’s no reason to spend lots of money on a stem. Find one that’s the length you want and run it.

PB listings for 31.8 stems under $50:

I check it periodically. Bummer not to have any Loams in the configuration I need at the moment.

I got lucky and snagged a new Loam dropper for $125 for the fat bike. It's only a 125mm dropper, but plenty for what I put a full rigid fat bike through.

I've seen how you run a full rigid fat bike, you'd be better off with no seat.........

Regarding the 31.8 versus 35mm bar discussion. I run 31.8mm on the small bike and 35mm on the big bike. There is a noticeable difference between the 31.8mm and 35mm. 35mm feels like I'm running the front tire 2psi over my usual tire pressure. Stings a little bit more but on a big bike, it's not as much of a big deal.

After you ride your bike a little bit, you may decide you want a different stem length anyway. At that time you can decide if you want to re-use your Renthals, or get a new 35 bar.

In the meantime, if you want to try your Renthals with your current stem to see if you even like the rise/sweep/width, you can use 31.8-35mm shims. May not be popular, but with a little carbon assembly paste, it won't slip.

There's a very real possibility I saw them getting this one ready to ship if you got the ship notification on Friday.

I think he's implying someone shipped a different brand bike in a Transition box.
