Hello, I’m from Fargo ND and am looking to go camp this summer up somewhere in NorthEast Minnesota this summer. Possibly looking for a great scenic view and camping. If anyone has any recommendations, I would love to hear them. Would love to meet up with some fellow Toyota Enthusiasts!!!

Superior National Forest has tons of camp grounds all over and a lot of them are on lakes or rivers. Also plenty of forest roads to run around and explore.

Superior National Forest, Finland State Forest. Basically if you drive around in north St. Louis county, Lake County, and Cook County, you'll find lots of places. SNF allows disbursed camping. I'm in St. Louis county.

Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness, duh! Rent a Kevlar canoe in Ely and paddle into to Canadian Shield where it’s beautiful and some of the oldest exposed rocks on the planet exist.

Get an entry permit quick. they are getting taken at a super rapid rate this year, and USFS restricted some. It's going to be an interesting summer up here.

The last time I went was in October a few years ago. There was no lottery. no people, and no mosquitoes. It was tee bit cold (30-40F), but we got pretty lucky with the weather. The fog coming out the last day was epic. We couldn’t see more than 100 yds down the lake.

All of the north shore state parks are great if your want a little more of a “formal” campground. You can reserve 120 days out and they go quick. My favorites are Cascade River SP and Tettegouche SP.

Otherwise anywhere in the superior national forest is great too, lots and lots of campsites.

There are amazing views all over the place. Some really great ones in the Superior Hiking Trail.

Those are fun too, but I think those areas are more for snowmobiling, fishing, 4x4ing, drinking, sight seeing, etc. If you want to truely go camping, I suggest the BWCAW.

Late season is the best season for solitude. Gets interesting when there's a skim coat of ice on the lakes in the morning.

Absolutely. The BWCA is truly one of a kind. If you really want to get off grid the primitive management areas within the BWCA are worth taking a look.

If you want a campground with a few amenities (bathrooms, showers, etc) I really like Lamb's Resort in Schroeder, on Lake Superior about 1.5 hrs northeast of Duluth. If I'm bringing the family they prefer not to do primitive or dispersed camping and we've had a few good stays there. Lots of different sites from forested to lakeside, an RV area, and several cabins. They have a decent stretch of property along the lake and there are a few other spots near there to check out too.
