I for one do not need a kitchen grade food prep station that doubles as a yard waste and fertilizer restraint.

But yeah, my truck is modded with the cheapest, most ridiculous horseshit that Amazon could possibly sell.

Anybody that can't open a bottle using only their wits and their surroundings are undeserving of its contents.

I might be in the minority, but "old school" stuff on the Tacoma is a lot of the attraction for me. No turbos, an actual hand brake, etc.... I had an e-brake on a 2020 Mazda CX-30 that drove me absolutely insane. That stupid thing was supposed to auto-release but didn't and you had to manually turn it off. I'm not against all "nanny devices", per se. Some are great. But I love it when reviews of the Tacoma talk about "old-school" stuff like drum brakes and some things on the interior. Those kinds of things appeal to me and a lot of others, I think. Simple, tested, reliable, etc...

Again why fix what isn’t broken. There’s no need. My tailgate has a back up camera in it and that about as innovative as I want. I used to shit on those things till I had one and now I love ‘em, but that’s about as innovative as I want. The more complicated and “innovative” things get, the more chances there are for said thing to break. Toyotas reliability has been achieved by keeping shit simple and not going over board with frills and gimmicks.

P.S. a part of me feels op just wanted to troll us all a few days early…

Sure, I don't put food directly on mine, but it has a slot for a cup holder/rest, AND the flat is a lot more comfortable to sit on! I think I got it for something like 20$ or something cheap, so I wasn't too fussed. It's great for setting up the grill on, being flat.

My interior red lights are from the 'zon, but I MIGHT bump it up to the meso duals instead, being able to to red and white would be slick. :D my drivers cubby is from the 'zon, probably some other cheap stuff too. All my radio stuff :spy:

    good AD reference too.

I really like being able to find helpful information in this forum…it’s the reason I signed up. However, this thread is a perfect example of what is wrong with it and a big part of what is wrong with our society.
Why do some feel like they have to attack somebody…blow out somebody’s candle so yours is brighter…try to prove you’re the smartest person in the room??
So, innovation of any kind that you don’t agree with is bad…I’m gonna use this opportunity to turn it into a dick measuring contest(this one literally did) or to make thinly veiled political statements…over a tailgate comment??
So now I’m ready to be attacked by some keyboard warriors…go ahead give it your best shot. Sliante

Nothing wrong with Chinazon, there are actually some good shops on there with quality stuff. Can’t say I’ve ever purchased anything from there for my truck, but my father in law did get me the silicon door pocket and cup holder inserts that I HIGHLY suspect came from chinazon…

@Hose dragger, brother, I feel you here but this thread was NEVER going to have anything of value in it from the very first post. Guy comes on and starts bashing the Tacoma tailgate and Toyota as a whole because it doesn’t do what the Colorado does. There was nothing of substance in the original post nor was there even a question to be answered. OP stated an opinion, albeit an unpopular one, and the forum reacted in a very predictable way…almost as if OP knew it was going to go down like this and just wanted to stir some shit.

TW has a plethora of fantastic information about these trucks, everything you could ever want to know can be found here, and if not, some one else will find it. On the other hand, TW is kinda like the fire house, shit talking is going to happen just as it has for hundreds of years before the internet. And letting people know you’re butthurt over something someone said only fuels the fire.

I say they're made from Chinesium. Like my rear bumper, that was made from Chinesium and actually came from Amazon (it was cheaper than an OEM and I shredded mine in the trails after being a doofus)

And now that I've searched my amazon order history for "Tacoma"

    • Bed lights
    • bed rail t nuts
    • center console/glove box organizer things
    • license plate lights (similarly, shredded one in the trail, but a different doofus moment)
    • My tailgate radio antenna mount
    • Bed stiffeners
    • Gas cap holder

All made from Chinesium (actually the CB antenna mount was from Cali Raised via Amazon)

    :spy:

Anyway back to tailgates. It's a tailgate, it holds things in. I don't know what technology you want, it's a truck, stop using it like a family sedan, that's one of the biggest problems in American cities nowadays is that Sandra and Bill from down the road came for dinner with their F250 because 'murica

    https://kmph.com/news/local/dangerous-blind-spots-in-trucks-and-suvs-cause-hundreds-of-child-deaths

If you want your tailgate to be functional, maybe you might have no need for the truck, and just want it as a codpiece instead of driving a smart car, which would be better for everyone involved.
