All my rigs are purpose built. From crawling to camping. I also enjoy a nice stock truck for what that’s worth. Toyota’s are the jam!
Not that I own a landscape company in which I cut grass for a bunch of elite twits or have had an X fuck me over or anything lol

A lot of gun owners cannot disassemble/reassemble their guns without a YT tutorial. LOL

You ever take apart a Ruger mark 1? And successfully put it back together? I like/use YT a lot, for stuff like that

Unfortunately, now you tube is mostly dominated by people who just like to hear themselves talk, or are just influencers peddling crap. Any potentially useful "content" is now just secondary and is bogged down with nonsense. I usually try to find published/peer reviewed PDFs or pictorial info for stuff first, YT is an avenue of last resort.....

The good thing about YouTube is you can choose to watch what you want. No one is forced to watch the frivolous bullshit that agenda driven, attention deprived, wacko's post. I know usually in the first three seconds of a vid if it's a go or no-go.

It's got me out of a jam severe times. I use it. The reviews alone are good too, if you know where to look.

I inherited a 30-06 from my grandfather that I shoot maybe once every three years. The gun is designed such that when you pull the bolt carrier out of the receiver, all of the parts literally fall apart in your hands. You bet your ass I watch a YouTube video every time I have to put that thing back together. Problem is YouTube cracks down so hard on anything and everything gun related that it gets hard to find the correct video. Probably just need to order a manual for it.

Edit: Also, on something that I only do every 3 years, even if I think I remember how to do it I'm still going to double check myself against a video or the manual to be sure. That comes from having made some stupid mistakes working on cars and from seeing others make stupid mistakes because they were too proud to double check themselves.

You should have a print copy of everything you need from the internet. It beats listening to some guy listening to himself talk on YouTube.

You can also download the videos you need so you've a copy when google deletes them.

Great to see others shooting well at distance. Most at my indoor range are stuck between 3-7 yards.

75’, iron sites, that is damn good shooting. I’m pretty good out to 15 yards/45’ but beyond that it gets a little dicey.
Here’s mine at 15 yards. (The holes in the 10 ring are covered by blue tape)

That’s a tad more complex than “how to wash dishes”

Idk about it being complex. I mean I guess it can be.
Not so much a glock or even an AR.
Depending on “breaking down” being defined as a field strip or a complete disassembly, one should be common knowledge and the other should be doable by any kid that owned a Lego set. I mean, they sell specific armor tools, and you can get a punch set anywhere.

Meanwhile, you working on say a Remington 700 requires actual machine work knowledge, brazing, welding, and specialized tools. A lot of which is NOT on YouTube. Stuff like cam re-timing on the bolt handle, pining a recoil lug etc.

It’s a bummer, because there seems to be less and less good gunsmiths these days. All mine that are still alive are spread out around CONUS.

I think it is two fold:

I use Youtube a lot. When I get a new gun, I will watch a break down video to make sure I am doing everything correctly. Just as I would when learning how to wrench on my truck. I am a very visual person, so it helps me a lot more than reading something.

I have a friend who claims to be a gun person. She has an AR-15 that she claims is junk because it jammed when she took it out. I asked if she has cleaned or lubed it and she said no. She doesn't know how to. She won't take the time out of her day to figure out how to disassemble her AR-15 for basic maintenance, but she is prepping for all kinds of crap. She also told me her cat dumped water or something on her 870 and it is trashed. But she has no idea how to maintain her shotgun so it is just sitting collecting dust and being dirty.

I think youtube is a great resource if you are using it to better your understand or learn a new skill.

i hate the sponser crap, i fast forward or go to a different video.

lol, thats hilarious and sad. Some prepper she is. AR really isnt that bad for field strip. And 870 with a little water spilled on it? Thats nothing!! ive really abused the hell out of mine. A good cleaning and its good to go.

That's what I told her. If you can't clean your shit why are you prepping? Even told her the AR isn't bad. She had no idea what a BCG was or how to disassemble it. Told to watch a YouTube video and she still hasn't. What's sad is she was in the LEO field, not sure how well she took care of that Glock she was issued.

Any idea on how to slide a 750 lb gun safe across a concrete floor without destroying my back? Thought I’d ask before hiring some strangers to help me. I’m rearranging my work room and it needs a new location. I’m only moving it 25ft but turning a corner in the process.
