Messed up my Rear Bearing press - can speed sensors be installed in front?

exactly, then you have to drill a hole for the stud on the opposite side of the hole so the sensor faces the correct way. I have a 2007 without any fancy traction control or the other features above

 

I just went and looked at mine and refresh my memory. it turns out I pressed on two passenger side bearings. Same mistake reversed sides. When I reinstalled I had both sensors on oriented at the rear of the axle and had the 60mph drop. Finally went and looked at a buddies and figured it out. At this point you have nothing to lose by giving this fix a shot. This will be even easier to execute on the passenger side without the parking brake in the way

Tip: use a bottoming Tap so you don't have to drill all the way through the carrier. a standard tap is tapered and will necessitate drilling all the way through to create a proper thread depth. Stupid mistakes call for "smart" fixes.

 

Thinking about this further and after the memory refresh I retract my statement about the tone rings being directional as they output a symmetrical waveform. Its the Sensors that are directional. The way I initially had it setup with the drivers side sensor at the back of the axle the side of the sensor that reads the waveform was actually oriented away from the tone ring. After reading that article and taking into account that the system is magnetic and with a backwards sensor the polarity was reversed so it was reading that the wheel is moving backwards.
the gent in the article swapped the sensors sides as well so both of his where facing away from the tone ring So both wheels were showing reverse rotation. Sorry for the ramblings
