When I got "splashed" I was never quick enough to get my hand out of the way when the oil came out. Cap on slowed it up but still not enough. I lived with it until I got the TRD skid then had to do something else.

I was baptized this past weekend. I had seen this thread, and yet I was still caught off guard. I really wish I had a video of it..

I think I have to add like a sponge material so oil does not fly away when it hits plastic pan..

I was wondering if one of those spikey urinal cake things would be the ticket..plus they're free, and taste great too.

The ValvoMax product directs oil through a tube. You can also buy a lightweight jug to collect the oil and a kit that makes a closed connection between the oil pan and the bag ... the oil can only splash inside the bag, or out later when carrying the bag. Check their website.

The worst risk I can see is that the first time you use the ValvoMax adapter you must use the normal plug. After you install the valvo plug you must just deal with oil change places that may not know how to use it.

    A few.
The first oil change on my ‘20 was not the cleanest either, but I had to do one the old fashioned way to get a Fumoto Valve installed. I also use a Motivx drain tool, filter wrench, and funnel that I got on Scamazon. Both use hoses and make the process much cleaner. I’ve had a Fumoto Valve on my ‘02 for 7 years +/- with no problems, but I also run aftermarket skids on both trucks that protect the valves. An RCI 1/4” aluminum skid on the ‘20 and an All Pro 3/16” steel skid on the ‘02. YMMV

My second oil change went much better. Used a modified bucket and had no spills. The Motovix drain hose for the filter housing worked well except the hose is too long, so I cut about 10 inches off of that. Torqued the housing to 18 ft lbs, drain plug to 30 ft lbs. will leave the skid plate off and drive it a few miles to check for leaks. It sure don’t take long to drain hot 0-20 oil, the stuff is like water.
