I was a bit too old for Stingray bikes.
My parents thought they were silly. They would never have bought me one, but in the 70’s I built one for my little sister.

If I remember correctly, kid next door had a Schwinn Stingray w/shifter, another had the Huffy Green Gremlin(?) w/o shifter & I had the Raleigh Fireball Chopper and no shifter... All the other kid's bikes didn't have a shifter either. Perhaps optional? :notsure:

Remains to be seen I bought the tires and wheels the rest came along
Who knew those early building skills would come to a good use in my next dwelling perhaps.

Those were some scary days .

I decided then at least one diesel vehicle and a few hundred gallons of fuel.

I don't remember the diesel crisis but it was way cheaper than gas!

The yellow also matched the “dishwasher”,the yellow rubber gloves my mom wore when she did the dishes.

I remember we thought dad was like the biggest hero because he went out to RadioShack and got the 1000 foot cord for the telephone so you could take it with you anywhere in the house.

You could answer the phone while sitting on the couch watching TV!

The rich family on the street had one of those fancy cordless phones where you had to pull out the antenna yourself.

Yup I remember the gas crunch, and they went by plate number (I think the first digit) to determine what day you could buy. Still remember my mom almost out of fuel in my dad's car with me and my sister
