Hey guys! I am brand new to this forum and to a Toyota Tacoma. I have owned F 150s by whole life and decided to go with a Tacoma and a lift this time.

I am looking for any insight some of you more experienced Tacoma owners might have regarding lifts and potential issues. I ordered a Bilstein ReadyLift 3-inch front & 2 inch rear SST Lift Kit - 69-5531 from my local 4 wheel parts shop. I also ordered OME leaf springs EL111Rs for the rear as I will not be using the 2-inch spacers that come with the lift kit. I am in the process of choosing wheels and tires. I planning to go with 17X8.5 wheels and 285/70 R17 Goodyear Duratracs. Any opinions or negative experiences with this setup? The parts shop guy says this is the ideal setup per Bilstien's website and thinks there will be no issues. He did however say that nothing is a guarantee.

I look forward to hearing any advice or experiences any of you have had. Thanks!

Search button is your friend. Also I probably wouldn’t rely on 4WP sales associate advice for anything, much less something he’s claiming is ideal but not guaranteed.

Looks like this is the kit you are talking about: https://www.4wheelparts.com/p/ready...ch-rear-sst-lift-kit-69-5531/_/R-BKMQ-69-5531

Do more research on lifts, but what you will find is that lifting more than about 2” causes a lot of problems.

Even at 2” you should have the needle bearing replaced with an ECGS bushing to help get ahead of driveline vibrations that are likely to begin at some point.

https://www.headstrongoffroad.com/store/c126/Bilstein_Kits_-_Tacoma_2016_.html — these guys are great. I’d look through their options and contact them if you have questions to make sure you don’t make a mistake on your investment based on what you want it for.

EDIT: If you are just trying to figure out how to run that tire size with those wheels, the offset is going to matter a lot. Getting more lift will not make it work easier. If you do a 2” front lift and stick to close to a 0 offset you will likely be in pretty good shape with some minor plastic trimming as long as you get a good alignment where they push the wheel as far forward as possible given stock tolerances.

    Good luck!

You may want to consider UCA's. That will help with alignment to fit those tires. Read, read, and read threads here on lifts and fitting 285's. Also rear axle shims, rule of thumb is 1 degree per inch of lift.
