Camped up at Stoneyford in the rain last weekend. The m10 west of there is closed due to rain and a big mudslide. M5 is open but got denied by snow before 3k feet. Goat Mt rd was blocked by a rockslide. Still had fun as I hiked the m10 up towards Letts Lake in the snow. Had a big bear follow me for a little while. Great trip but that area is hammered. Gonna take a lot of work to open those roads and the passes will have snow until at least June!

I was surprised it how little snow there was on the route out to Uncle Tom's cabin. Cabin wasn't as buried as I expected it to be either. Surfin on the slush out there.

I'm glad you were able to get out and do a solo trip. For me, solos are nice and I get really introspective.

A bunch of us went out the second weekend of February and we thought the river was high then. It is really flowing now! I crossed it on foot to see if we could try it, but the far bank was so soft and steep it was difficult to get up on foot. It was also four feet deep, so if we had tried it and got stopped, then we'd be hydro-locked!

Yeah, I want you to get weekends off too. Then you can join in with our shenanigans!

It was sunny with a break in the wind, and my shorts were nylon, so I was fine. The water was pretty chilly though

I'm planning a trip to Mammoth in the first week of April. Any recommended trails up there?

Also, fingers crossed 395 is open by then.

Can’t really think of anything that won’t be covered in snow still.

If you’re into skiing Mammoth trails will be epic this August while they dig out from this winter. Haha.

Kinda joking but seriously might happen.

Hell yeah I'm considering getting next year's ikon pass just for spring skiing at Mammoth and Palisades this year. A few years ago, Palisades (then squaw valley) stayed open til the 4th of July. If they can keep enough staff around, august isn't out of the question for mammoth

Anyone been down Mojave Road recently? Thinking about doing a solo trip with the pup in mid April. Seems pretty tame as long as the water crossing isn’t too deep and Soda Lake isn’t muddy.
