Fortunately not a white trash park. A mix of stick and manufactured. Everyone's older, quite, and keeps to themselves. Just how I like it.

I've somewhat taken care of both of those two offenders and am glad to have the neighbor behind me that owns the 167 acre farm! Still need to drive back there and look for some deer sheds. Lots of deer back there.

Other day you could hear gunshots and mother was like "what the Hell was that!?" I was like, "oh that's just Don"

I had a battle with those at my old house...

Owner didn't really want to cut it down in all the years I lived there. I moved and my grandmother moved into that house. Two weeks later he cut it down... :annoyed:

Grinding through this still. Just about done — I should be ready for paint this weekend.

I painted my drawer fronts and picked up the 12’ butcher block
    D9C923AB-75BB-4019-93AB-ADB570E0A0DE.jpg

Too big for the garage, so everything was done on the back patio. I rounded over the edge with an 1/8” roundover, sanded the top and bottom, and applied my mint white pre color (stain)

I coerced my partner to help me haul the slab upstairs. It went surprisingly well except the wall isn’t straight. I understand walls aren’t square, but this one has a bow in it, so unless I wanted to scribe a 1 1/2” thick piece of wood I kind of just had to deal with pushing back on the wall. Unfortunately it opened a small gap between my cabinet and the wall, but I have some scribe trim that will go there on the outside edge of both cabinets.

    Moment of truth:
    EFD7BA64-58F9-4350-9E29-0E15AB5B53D7.jpg

My desk is level but if you look closely you can see that this means my window isn’t :rofl:
    1B2A6D06-B476-4C24-B581-7048FD89F04F.jpg

I drove a bunch of screws through the underside and it’s not going anywhere any time soon. I couldn’t help but mock-up the drawer fronts
    7D86E395-E066-4A45-8E9A-DE552E53DB20.jpg

Since I made shaker style fronts, I had a 1/4” gap on the back behind the panel. Some people just make the panel thicker and route the edges, but I hate MDF and decided not to. Instead, I cut spacer pieces that will be hidden. I glued them all down with mugs lol.
    76485511-EF68-48D2-9A93-6DE508F09035.jpg

While those dried I applied the oil to the desk. To match the floor I went with cotton white again. The butcher block I chose is the same builder grade as those garbage floor boards I rescued last June. It’s a perfect match!

Then I used a hardware jig to poke the holes through the fronts. And finally I was able to install them. I have to say it was kind of risky going with full overlay drawer fronts on this project… Nothing is square in that room. However, I’m glad it all came together.

    How she’s sitting:
    0F49B057-9A96-4582-AD85-FBFDC4918F5E.jpg

    What’s left:
    • Install scribe trim to cabinets and wall seam
    • Install backsplash
    • Swap outlets back to black (last minute decision — backsplash will be green/black)
    • Final sand on nail holes, final caulk, final paint
    • Move in

    Nice work

is there an apron going under the window to the right ? Reason I ask is that would give you some leeway to move the top left to gain some scribe if that is what you were concerned about

My brain is happy you mount your horizontal pulls in the centre of the shaker panels and not on the top rail , that makes me twitch

Had to use the hammer and the saw to mash this in but f it, it’s in.

    EE19D9A2-F853-444E-981A-EC5ABAFD8500.jpg

In hindsight, this magnetic thing, like it says in the instructions, only useful if you have a direct shot to the wall. If you’re slightly offset, the value is pretty limited. I spent a lot of time f’ing with it to get it to clamp on. Possibly more than just banding to the duct directly. Which is now cut short to the wall so I’m stuck for the time being. Unless or until I vent through the floor which is likely the best option for this mag setup since you can’t really clamp to a floor duct without some intelligent planning.
