You don't have to swap the bulkhead, the 3rd Gen has the mounting holes built into the bed, you just need to add the rail. It's available on Amazon.

wish I saw this yesterday. I was in alu-cabs manual where it said an M8x20 cup square bolt (its a carriage bolt with square shank) fits the rails. well I couldn't find M8x20 carriage bolts at home depot, so I bought some 1/4x20 bolts, and the carriage bolt head of those wouldn't fit. they were about 1-2mm too wide.

also after researching. a 1/4x20 carriage bolt head is about .579in, or 14.7mm. Researching the M8x20 dimensions for the head, and all I'm getting is everything over 15.3mm. which is larger than the 1/4x20. maybe I'm stuck using hex head bolts? This is for adding load bars on top. but I think the rails are the same as inside, correct?
Not a fan of Alu-cabs instructions. AT ALL. lol

 

8x20 is the length of the bolt. I'm talking about the head, like the socket size 13mm.

Look for threads in 8x1.25, that's usually a 1/2 socket (13mm)

 

M8 bolt with 13mm head (socket size) will fit the roof rails. Alu cab sends a slightly different style bolt out with their load bar feet.

 

yeah I was just saying an M8x20 carriage bolt head is over 13mm. which alu-cab calls out to use in their rails, but the head is too big to fit, along with 1/4x20 carriage bolt heads, which are over 13mm too.

 

Just picked my canopy and tent up yesterday from AVO, they did an awesome job and I’m excited to start building up and adding on to the rig.

 

Someone asked about the shims when installing the Contour Canopy a while back. For anyone in the future front towards the cab I have 3 shims middle 4 shims rear towards the tailgate I have 5 shim’s passenger and drivers side. This was installed by Tiny Rig on my 2022 DCSB Off Road.

 

Well, it looks like this is the first LB Contour I've seen posted. It looks better with the window centered on the new version.

 

She looks like a mobile BBQ/smoker now.....
And I think that makes me like it even more.

 

Has anyone removed the Alu Cab sticker on the back of the canopy yet? If so, was if difficult and what did you use?

Has anyone bought or made their own fold down table for the tent? $300 seems pretty steep to buy something like this from Alu-Cab but there’s not a whole lot of close up pictures I can find online or details about it to try and make a copy.

 

I tried to do a simple peel and it was very much on there and decided i would only mess it up. May come back at it on a very hot day or with a heat gun.

 

Yeah I’m afraid I will just mess it up. Maybe I will just wait for a that is 110 here lol.

I have not, I bit the bullet and got the real thing from OK4WD.

It is simple 1x square aluminum tubing, simple table frame, pivoting legs (with two gas struts) and a thin aluminum sheet metal topper wrapped around the edges and riveted to the frame.

 

How often do you need a table?

I used a folding table from Camp Chef which is way cheaper, rolls up small, and for the 5 times a year I use it, it's perfect.

 

Alright this seems like the best group to post my questions. So I'm looking at purchasing a Khaya or canopy camper. (Leaning towards the Khaya). Do I need to get rid of my uptop roof rack or do I have enough clearance? Also the alucab roof box looks like a cool idea but I can't find any how to mounts videos..
