My truck has around 3,000 miles on it. 2023 model--basically brand new. I've now been hit TWICE since getting the car in November... Just the reality of living in LA I guess, clueless drivers everywhere.

Anyways, I have come to the conclusion that my 2" BORA spacers have saved my truck each time.

First time, I was sort of T boned at an angle. Dented in and scratched the other person's fender pretty bad. Not a single scratch or dent on my car.

Second time, T boned straight on. Completely destroyed the Prius' front bumper. All it did was bang up my wheel.

Both incidents, I had the frame checked, leafs, shocks, hangers, etc. all checked, yet to no avail. Not even a bolt was bent.

My thought is that since I got such aggressive spacers, they poke out far enough to where neither accident was strong enough of an impact to allow their car to make contact with my Tacoma's body. And, as for there being apparently no damage to suspension/axles whatsoever, I am assuming that the spacer absorbed a good chunk of the impact. These were both pretty hard impacts and given that there is an extra chunk of aluminum between my wheel and the hub in the form of the spacers, which I torqued to 90ft/lbs and used a generous amount of red loctite, I am led to believe that they took in a good load of the impact. Had them inspected as well and they are perfectly fine. Amazing.

Hopefully people stop hitting me in the near future or I am going to have to become one of those douchebags who runs their Baja Design Non-SAE fogs on during the day time now so that people clearly see me!!! Maybe I need to chop off the muffler or some resonators too. Who knows.

I think you just got very lucky both times.

The latter pictures, looks like it was a very low speed impact, and and that your tires took the brunt of the impact, not your suspension or spacers.

The first ones, looks like it was a bit faster but still not much, and again looks like your rim/tires took the brunt of that impact. At best, your spacers saved your paint, but I doubt they were the main cause of why you didn't have any further damage, or even a minimal one.

Yeah, makes sense. Definitely saved me from needing new paint, and possibly fenders as well though. The stock wheel position sits a bit inside in the fenders, so I think both incidents would have definitely made impact with the body. Nonetheless, lucky that speeds were relatively low.

In my opinion it was the left tailight cover that should get the credit for saving your truck's dirt - I mean the paint - from scratches...

    :boink:

Maybe the license plate holder... but certainly not the spacers...
