    If it's a gas stove top, Does the top need to be open or vented due to gas combustion or carbon monoxide?

    Both covers I've made have been for electric burners, so I'm not sure about gas stoves designs yet, but I have seen people use metal covers for the individual burners for gas stoves before.

    I did some reading online. Many mixed answer. One issue was heat if the stove top doesn't have a electronic lighter.

    No, you wont have a wood cover on it if you have a burner on. In the event you have a pilot light its out dated and need a new stove not a stove cover.

    Just need to make sure everything is cooled off before putting wood cover on the stove
