If the gear oil says it’s already in it, then no. I see no need to add any more.
I would have stuck with conventional oil myself. As some guys have had issues with synthetic oil in the LSD trucks.

I’ll change it without adding the additive and report back the results this weekend

LSD additive can always be added later if you notice chattering/skipping during turns.

This seems to be coming up a lot recently. I always point people to this article form ECGS https://eastcoastgearsupply.com/ft-2536-ecgs-gear-oil-recommendation.html I will be using Lucas 85w-140 going forward.

I would not recommend anything over 90 weight in the front. That’s coming from personal experiences. Others have had issues too. It’s not an issue that causes any real damage. But a front diff puking oil on the driveway is never fun. It quits eventually.

Thank you all for the replies. When I do the Rear Differential change this weekend and drive it around for a bit, I’ll post the results. @2015WhiteOR That was my first thought and about LSD additive from AMSOil just in case

You’ll be fine with that weight.
It’s not the weight, it is the fluid type.
Synthetic has been known to cause squeaks, chirps, and chatter.
If you get those symptoms, you can try to add in some more additives and hope that fixes it.
If not, going back to standard fluid usually fixes it.

Not everyone has this problem, but some have and the fix was going back to a Non-synthetic fluid.

The way I see it, as long as there is some kind of decent lubricating fluid in there it doesn't matter synthetic / dino. I was more interested in the data for temp and service life.

997CAB76-F0E9-4387-ACA3-D84D6BE613EA.jpg Ended up using 3quarts and AMSOIL “Slip Lock” LSD additive as a reassurance. Afterwards did a “Figure 8” with the truck 4 times to test out for any chattering and also to make sure the LSD additive gets worked in .

I’m happy to say that there is no chattering or vibrations of any kind. I was trying my best to hear/feel even the slightest difference of any kind.

BTW the previous gear oil that was serviced at Toyota from the previous owner came out like this!6DC8974C-046F-4293-881B-FB5FBF2055F5.jpg
