Hi All - Have a maintenance question for anyone who has more technical knowledge than myself.

I recently purchased a Toyota Tacoma, and have driven less than 2,500 miles, urban driving, and found out from a oil change that there is "visual external leak on the side of the engine block." The dealership I purchased the vehicle from claims that the there was no leak or damage upon their inspection.

My question for anyone with Tacoma engine knowledge is if a gasket was cracked in the last 2,500 miles, would such a visible leak be so obvious. Both technicians I have spoken with claim that this issue has been around prior to my ownership.

Is it behind the power steering pump where the timing cover meets the block?

Peoples definition of oil leak varies, some see a stain and call it a leak.
IMO if it's not dripping or running down it's not really a leak.

What does the used car laws of your state say? Was there any explicit written warranties? Here, you drive it off the used car dealers lot, you own it.

Did you buy it "as is"?

Did you get a third party inspection before buying?

Sometimes they leak slow, some times they leak fast. Where is the leak?
