Are you looking for drain, fill, or both? The ones I have are fill plug. Drain is more common so I figured you had that.

06, so... sorta. Has cat, egr... no DPF or DEF though.
No more emissions as far as MA is concerned, but, still need to pass visual and smoke test.

The DPF is what kills my overall economy. Regen just about every tank (500 miles). MPG's drop to about 10 while it's in regen.

Close friend has a Dmax, and I am not sure how frequently his goes into re-gen.. but, he said he barely notices...

Biggest thing with modern diesels, is, no need for any tunes as far as drive-ability, etc. They're pretty damn good out of the box..

Even with my old 6 mile/15 minute commute this is why I didn't get the babymax colorado. Would have been nice for wheeling and those cross country trips would have been easier on the diesel. But day to day no bueno.

Question: sometimes when I get out of the truck after like an hour of traffic or really hilly drive the truck kind of smells like something got burnt or warmed up to much. Not sure how to describe it, maybe like rubber but a “lite” version of rubber burn smell.

    Any ideas?

Power-wise, I agree, they're great out of the box. My Powerstroke, unless you really pay attention, you'd never know it's in regen other than your MPG goes in the toilet. It makes a slightly different sound, but most people would never notice. There's no indicator on the dash or anything (which is stupid in my opinion). I used ForScan to make it so I can tell on the dash when regen is happening, only so I can idle down for a minute if I interrupt a regen cycle. I've had no inclination to tune my truck (unless I decide to delete, but I don't think I'd ever go that route). My biggest fear with the truck is the fuel system to be honest.
Nope, I'm 35 miles each way to work, some stop and go, but normally moving along at a good clip. The truck will try to regen every 500 miles.
    Check your coolant level maybe?

Haha no worries I wasn’t sure if there was some sort of cardinal thing that was just missing

i checked fluids, theyre at least at the minimum levels, just odd it’s sometimes not every time otherwise I’d be more worried.

may or may not be helpful, but i get this every once in a while on my 2015. No rhyme or reason, happens out of the blue. Has since new and still happens. Dont know what it is, but its short lived, maybe happens a few times a year.

Hmm weird. Seems to be pretty often for a regen but I don't know for sure. I'm pretty sure the NOX sensors tell the truck when to regen based off of before and after DPF pressures

At least you have a drain plug on the rear diff. My F-150 has the 9.75 diff and requires removing the cover and using RTV to re-seal it. Lubelocker makes a gasket instead, so when I do it I'll probably go that route.

The kicker is Ford makes a replacement "Ford Performance" cover with a drain plug, but it's stupid money. Even the unbranded Spicer version of that cover is fairly expensive.

Agreed, the NOX sensors will cause a regen if it senses the DPF is starting to fill but the truck will regen at 500 miles regardless of the NOX sensor readings. The DPF may only be 50% plugged at 500 miles, but it will still enter regen and burn out what it can at that point. If you tow heavy, full time, the DPF may never even start to fill up, but the truck will still try to regen at 500 miles, it will just end up being a very quick process and not really do anything except burn some fuel.

Yea if you get the passive regens from getting the exhaust hot enough for long enough. I didn't realize they regen regardless every 500 miles

The Stupid Duty is the same way, no drain plug. It took me 45 minutes to even figure out which diff I have. My Owner's manual lists 3 options and the gear oil requirements are very different between them. Finally determined I have the Sterling diff, and of course that one requires some stupid expensive, uncommon synthetic diff oil that's like $30/quart.

Yep, but I also spend a lot of time unloaded so I don't get much for passive regen. Even the camper I have at 6-7k lbs doesn't really work the engine hard enough for passive regen. If it weren't for regen, my overall fuel economy would improve about 2 -3 MPG overall. I track my fuel economy tank by tank and the tanks that experience regen are very noticeably lower.
