Noticing the Tacoma I recently purchased is very annoying to drive due to the loud cabin noise. The previous own has the cats removed. I don’t “need” to put the cats back on but I do need the cabin noise level reduced as well as not wake the neighbors every morning at @ 4am. Is this something I should address with a newer exhaust or will the new cats solve the noise problem?

Sounds like it needs a muffler. New cats will make it smell better though.

so I guess the question is would cats quite it down? I plan to replace the exhaust regardless just wondering if the cats are going to be needed to get the noise level down in the cab, or if they have no real affect on noise.

Remains to be seen I bought the tires and wheels the rest came along
Just where does your exhaust end now?

Getting it behind the rear wheel will quiet things down with just returning to a stock exhaust system.

I removed my cats but have a new oem muffler. I wouldn’t call it loud, but there’s that spot around 2krpm that drones. And it growls a little on acceleration, just a little. So if that’s what you’re not liking, yeah putting cats back in might help your noise.

A bed mat and hood noise dampener could help.
