yeah was a push to get there and home in less than 2 days. Only eventful thing for me was lack of sleep and driving through snow.

Any idea how long it takes to drive from Eureka Dunes to Saline Warm Springs and then to Boxcar Cabin? Googlemaps is making it sound like a breeze but reading other online accounts seems to say otherwise. Many thanks.

Just driving with no stopping or the pace you want to take in order to enjoy the drive?

I think I could drive from Eureka Dunes to Saline Warm Springs in 2 hours. But to enjoy Dedeckera, Steel Pass, and the descent into Saline, you probably want to allow 3 hours. More if you want to get out and explore any of the cool stuff along the way. Don't forget that just getting to Eureka Dunes is quite a trek, if you're planning to do that the same day as well.

From the Saline Warm Springs to Boxcar, you're looking at another 2.5 hours minimum, I'd say. But of course, you'll want to stop along the way on that route as well. Add another hour or so, for a more reasonable time.

These times assume - of course - that you're driving relatively high speeds and so have the vehicle and experience for that. And that you don't have any trouble (flat tire or blown shock being the most likely) along the way.

To get a sense of it, you can check out these trip reports, where I cover the ground we're talking about.

And of course, for lots of Death Valley travels and ideas...
