I did a quick search and didn't see this discussed recently.

Does anybody have brand preferences when it comes to engine and trans mounts? I have a '03 manual with the v6. I can just order online, but with parts coming from everywhere, I just wanted to check this groups knowledge first.

    Thanks!

Unless you're doing epic dune stunts and mega hucks, OEM is fine.

Yeah, I am looking for OEM, but if I can't find it, hoping somebody has experience with any of the other names.

I switched to solid mounts and need to switch back. (Personally I freakin love the solid mounts, but alas, I'm not the only one driving the truck)

:notsure: I'd just hit your favorite dealer web site or online whole seller (toyota parts deal). They're all the same backend, but some offer better online pricing. Then pick up in store (unless it's a whole seller, or a out of area dealer). Just don't order at the counter- they way over charge for the same part.

Are the solid mounts that bad that the other driver cannot stand it?

Remains to be seen I bought the tires and wheels the rest came along
Things like this I just use what NAPA has.

The fact the delivery Girl is hot has nothing to do with all the NAPA parts.

They are awesome!! Literally feels like a different truck. Engine seems louder, in a more aggressive way, not just noise. The shifts are better too. I have the engine and trans mounts from @solid_offroad and will likely have to list them for sale. Honestly I was grinning like an idiot the moment I had them installed.

But it's a shared truck and since my other half gave in and we're getting a '23 tundra in the color I wanted, I bent to putting stock mounts back in the lil taco.

What doesn't she like about the solid mounts?

Well, all the vibration normally absorbed has to be transferred somewhere. So the steering wheel vibrates a bit more and the small rattles become medium ones. Its honestly not that bad, but I can understand the annoyance. She drives the truck a lot actually, so I don't mind the consolation. I'd never take them off, as it really makes the truck feel so much cooler. I know that sounds stupid, but its so much more "truck" with the solid mounts. I've never held shifts this long before, hahahaha.

So She experienced both before and after and decided before was just the better option for her.

Most people would just figure that was normal for a 20 year old truck.

Solid mounts are pretty awesome. It has made shifting in and out of 4wd so much easier.
But.. there's definitely some vibration at idle and you know when your really lugging it like going in reverse you can hear the shutter In the whole bed of the truck.
So oem mounts are a bit more forgiving if your dailying or stuck in a lot of traffic, it could be annoying to some .

Yeah, my pops bought the truck new on 03 and gave it to me a few years ago. So both her and him have driven it extensively prior to the change. It's just not for her. I get it. No knock on her either, as its the same woman that told to use my motorcycle sales money to buy a 62 lincoln (dream car), pushed me to get an older 7 series (another dream car), and now is fully onboard with a TRD Pro Tundra, hahaha.

Camelback Toyota is who I use for OEM parts, just enter your VIN. Great prices.
