Been a while but making the truck a priority this year. First thing first had to trouble shoot an electrical short that was causing all kinds of issues. Turned out to be corroded connectors from when we went swimming in the pines. Also three shorted wires. I disconnected every connector on the truck and cleaned them all and traced and rang out every wire. Anyways she's back up and ready to tear up the Rockies and beyond.

While I had the truck tore down I decided to install the rubber floor @HolyHandGrenade provided years ago. It was nice having a helper, a bit distracting tho.....

Next up is most likely half doors but that will come after we hit Moab this weekend for the shakedown run!

 

In other news, picked up a badass RTT. doesn't fit on the taco tho

Time to update the thread with some things I've been working on the last year or so.....

I installed an FJ case that i twin sticked and paired with a Northwest Fab Eco-crawler that i installed the stock electronic shift components in to mate with the tranny. I also put in a new clutch while i was down there. Used the triple shifter kit and clocked it 10*. Sticks took a little bit of work bending into place, but got everything to fit in the original shifter location in the center console with no interference in any position. Then I locked the add actuator and removed the 4wd ECU. Used a triple shift boot from Wild Horses and modified the original boot to seal the tunnel






started work on my one-ton axles by taking the old truss and brackets off of the 1991 Ford Dana 60 Kingpin and Sterling 10.25. Then I cleaned them up, checked out the bearings, and did a disc brake conversion on the rear. Thought I was going to save some money over the lugnut 4x4 kit by piecing a kit together myself. If I did it again, I would've just bought the kit from them. Got some Caddy calipers with an ebrake since the truck is a stick shift, I like to have the E-brake, especially for the trail.

 

Last week, started on the scary stuff. Stripped the truck down and put it in the garage. Took apart the front end and cut off the IFS brackets....This was fairly painless, just disconnect the steering stem, make sure any wire bundles are out of the way, disconnect the hoses from the steering rack, disconnect brake lines and ABS sensors, and I used a short and long sawzall blade to perform the rough cut surgery.

 

I started working on the power steering pump and brake system while i have some room under the front of the truck. Pulled the stock power steering pump and used a 2 jaw puller with a piece of a body mount bolt that i cut down as a "bushing" of sorts and an impact to get the pulley off, since it doesn't have the usual pulley lip that the rental puller kits use to pull it off. I have a PSC 1200 pump that needed some slight modifications. Had to drill out one of the holes a little larger for the stock bolts, and drilled and tapped another hole that was tapped too small. Next step will be to press the pulley onto the new pump, install and reinstall the belt. Hoping to get the frame cleaned up and ready for plating this weekend.

Instead of tapping the hole can you fit a nut on the other side by any chance? I’m hoping to start on all this tomorrow.

The stock bolt doesn't fit thru the threads. Maybe you could drill it thru and fit a nut I'll have to check this afternoon

Okay so no BUT 2027 I have planned to do the rubicon and fordyce for my 40th… you in?

Made some progress today. Got the driver's side frame cleaned up. Got the psc pump installed, sent the stock pulley all the way flush with the end of the shaft and the bolted right up to the stock mounts like it was meant to be there. Also got my ifs box drilled and tapped. Got to clean up the passenger side frame and start making templates for the frame plates tomorrow
