Broken leaf spring, still drivable for a bit?

Just noticed that the second leaf of one of my 10 yr old CS047R Dakars has bit the dust. Is it ok if I still drive my taco for a few weeks until I can change my leaf pack? I presume it is best to change both leaf packs? I noticed it because of the gap between the first and second leaf.

Personally it could have been broken for a year already, and if you hadn’t noticed you might have driven on it for another year.

If you’re overly worried I would say put a couple beefy ass cable ties around the leaf pack right next to the break to keep the leaf from possibly slipping out sideways and damaging something.

I was thinking of doing this since I was planning on going sledding tomorrow, got about 60 km of forestry road to get to my unloading site.

Anybody know the new OME equivalent of the CS047R + D29XL ? I'm quite satisfied with that combo with my sled/ATV deck, especially when I fill my cab and bed as well.

Just an observation, that I am not sure is a coincidence. That break is right where the clamping force is on the Ride Rite airbag bracket. That same clamping force is what makes these trucks ride a little firmer after install. There is going to be a lot of stress right there…

I wish Firestone made a new bracket that simply replaced the bump stop plate for these trucks. It would alleviate the firmer ride, and keep all the clamping force close to the axle, like it should be.

I am thinking about welding a floor plate onto my OEM bump stop plate to accommodate the airbags when I do my new suspension setup.

Anyone else ever thought of doing something similar?

LED interior, license plate, and fog lights. More to come.
I would put hose clamps around it before cable ties.
