I hope he is doing well too. I always enjoy his posts and pictures. The wife had a nice birthday yesterday. Went out to a, new to us, chain restaurant, Uncle Julios. Food was decent but they could have offered a soup and have a little wider variety menu. Overall is a chain I would recommend. Not too many decent Mexican or Tex-Mex restaurants around where we live. We had one that offered Pozole, but they did not make it through the pandemic.

I usually only use course ground pepper or whole kernel peppercorns. I do have some fine ground pepper and use it only when the recipe calls for it.

Good morning, everyone. Looks like rain between 9 and 1 today with a gradual clearing of the skies in the late afternoon. Not much planned for today, maybe just clean off the workbench and get ready to install a water fountain/birdbath tomorrow. Wife and son are going to a SRO concert venus tonight and I will be home doing the Batchlor thing with our cat, so a movie it will be.

Sad news, I received a cancelation notice for an Alan Jackson concert we had tickets for that was supposed to happen last September. Looks like his condition is not improving.

    His voice just oozed NASCAR.
I can’t stand NASCAR anymore. Once you get big corporate involved in anything, it’s ruined.

Agree 100% I used to go to 4 or 5 races a year but just stopped going. I understand corporate sponerships and you need to make a profit and I would not be surprised to learn they try to ensure the winner they feel makes them the most profit.

I wish I could find the video of Jackie Stewart as he climbed out of Richard Petty's car after a lap or two at Daytona. Pure gold.

His book about the 1970 F1 season, Faster! A Racer's Diary is an amazing look at what it meant to be an F1 driver in an incredibly dangerous era. That was the year Jocken Rindt won the championship after being killed in a crash late in the season. Several drivers were lost that year.

Walked away when he still could. Must have been a tough trip back home after him losing his team mate Cevert at Watkins Glen.

One of my favorite magazines was British: Cars & Car Conversions Magazine. Focus was on Rally (unknown in the USA). They had a ton of technical aspects; some great writers moved to the states for the car scene. David Vizard helped me understand cylinder head porting and tuning SU carbs. They were published from 1963 to 2003.

Thank You. I had seen it, but couldn't remember where! Giving me ideas. Goose Delete is a time saver, but I need to limit expenses. Suplus material in the
shop vs. $1000 turn-key, decisions decisions.

Noco Jump packs have saved me a few times. It also prevents someone from cross-jumping (24 vs. 24F hookup when not paying attention to an "F" terminal), which is well worth it.

Sophie and Indie are cute pups! We had a German Shepard when I was growing up. Wonderful family dog. Rotty's, Hovawart (Think Rottweiler meets Golden Retriever), and My Goldens.

I'm on a roll; I installed the new tongue jack on the trailer. ARK, made in Australia, you can rapidly adjust the height (pull handle on the side), swings up and tuck under the tongue box, and the dual wheels mean a better chance of rolling it on soft ground—$ 219 from etrailer.com. The old Jack was 13.8 pounds; this one is 21.7 pounds—weight and balance games. I should replace the chains with twisty steel cables to save weight; The trailer gross is 2200 pounds; the chains are heavy, noisy, and meant for 10K trailers.

That’s why they don’t race (well, one of the reasons) at the Glen anymore. The track is actually very dangerous.
11 has a nice run off/ sand. 1 has good run off and outside track but the guardrail system is unforgiving.
I’ve seen some bad shit too. So unless they redid the barriers you will never see F1..

    And to add to this.
My Race partner was right there when it happened…

A little something every chance we get.
:pccoffee: Good Morning Porch Pals & Sue! Mowering day! Rain finally came about noon yesterday, so they were right. Lasted 5 minutes. Got the vehicles colors changed back from green, and dug out the old, abandoned waterfall basin. Today is "bulk trash pickup" day city wide, and the wife keeps bugging me to put big stuff out. I don't really have any, so I did that. Rocks are going to move anyway sometime....

Print? Like hold in your hands print? They are barely trying to retain your subscriptions anymore. They want you on-line.
Hot-Rod - still get, it's thinner every month.
I think I still get Road & Track - it doesn't publish every month, and it's a coffee table book now. Each huge issue has a theme.
Autoweek died gave me FourWheeler that died gave me Motor Trend. The newest issue has a really good article on the Corvette ERay. Hybrids are alive, and can be awesome. Everyone forgets them.
Oh, and Hemmings. I get that, and the Muscle Machines.
In Michigan, it was the MARC Times. NSSN for the upper midwest!

What ruined NASCAR for me was when they began all the points crap and the drivers weren't incentivized to WIN! If it's not a RACE, what's the point? And I've also gotta say that stock cars should be STOCK bodies, not fiberglas mock-ups that don't even look like a real car. As you say... the corporate mentality ruined it.

I was there too. I was a regular at the 6-Hour in July and the Grand Prix in October back in those days. We gave it up when the party atmosphere died and the crowds turned ugly.

Small lift, slightly oversized tires, well...
Mine cost me less than $300 and took me parts of 3 weekends. Might not be quite as nice, but I built it myself!
