I have a VF Tune on my 21 Tacoma and was wondering if it is necessary to remove the tune prior to transferring ownership of the truck.

Not sure what that means. Anyone else have a serious response here? I'm simply asking as a courtesy to the future owner of this truck. I seem to recall reading something a while back that if a dealership attempts an update it might brick the truck if the tune is not removed first.

Try selling the truck with the tune as a feature. Just tell the purchaser what they are getting. You can confirm with the tuner about the brick risk.

Not true. The presence or absence of a tune does not change the probability of the dealer bricking your ECU (which is low).

Leave it on, but disclose it to the buyer. That's the ethical way.

Leave it on the truck. I have sold a ton of tuned vehicles. As long as the tune was done by a reputable tuner who wouldnt want a truck that runs and drives better than stock.

A good tuner will be able to flash you back to the stock tune.

I would even offer the buyer that you could revert it to stock. It's even more important if you have an AGM-based tune that you disclose it so they don't go with something lesser down the line and overcharge. I am just glad we got rid of the specific octane files so the octane learning is present. Thanks @PapaRee !!!

Any tuning resources worth dealing with would be happy to support you! In fact, if anyone ever needs to go back to stock and can't get help please msg me...I'll help!
