Another busy weekend for OTT this month with supercharged trucks. This week we've wrapped up our 3G 3.5L Tacoma ProCharger calibration with some pretty amazing results and some interesting findings. Two major takeaways from our session with the 3G ProCharger, and one simple fact - The ProCharger moves some AIR!

    Capture.jpg

But to the point... We're seeing some early indications of clutch slip in the AC60F transmission between 340-350ft/lbs of torque at the wheel. It's still early to say but our measured 346ft/lbs at 4750RPM with the ProCharger put a hurting on the clutches during our dyno session. We need a larger sample size (n=1 just isn't enough at this point) to make any definitive statements, but I would encourage those in this power level to keep an eye things. So far we're only seeing this when loaded on the dyno, and we're not observing it on the street at this time.

The second point we wanted to outline was we're still not running into any fueling issues even moving 400+g/sec of airmass. Completely stock fuel system. Zero fuel pressure drop on the low & high pressure sides and zero leanout even over 7000RPM. We're looking forward to pushing the 3G Tacoma beyond 400+wheel horsepower.

Been on OTT mild spicy for about 3 weeks. I do a lot of city driving and the throttle sensitivity is great but also not nice in stop and go traffic.

If I go one step down does it only affect throttle sensitivity? Will the rest of the improvements also go down a step for lack of a better word?

We can adjust the initial off idle throttle sensitivity but Lite-Mild is likely what you’re looking for (it’s what I run myself). Let your tuner know you’d like to adjust your throttle.

All the power and trans behavior will remain the same!

    Awesome thank you.

I was on the website looking for like a list of what all the options actually are instead of just the base description that’s on there.

I think a full list would help us newer people understand and not have to dig through 40+ pages on here.

like I saw gear lock is a thing but no idea what that even is.

ECT can be set to Spicy or Sport or Tow?

Appreciate the feedback. I agree, we could do better with outline some of the offerings. Check back in soon and you’ll see our initial post here updated to better reflect some of our offerings.

While the settings you see mentioned here are simply production settings available to help clients get a feel for what they are looking for. Every tune we offer is available in a full custom offering, where we can and will individually tailor every aspect of the cal to your need. Be this a completely custom throttle profile, injector scaling, MAF scaling, tailored ignition timing profile for a specific fuel, unique shift schedule/torque converter profile, etc. you name it, and we can make it happen.

If you have a specific need or want something that is not what our production file provides, get some dialog started with us/your tuner and we’ll find a solution if one isn’t ready made.

If what you are after isn’t possible on the OE hardware, we are versed in a variety of aftermarket EFI solutions from the likes of MoTeC and Haltech.

Just had the OTT tune installed yesterday. The improvements in driveabilty are great. The transmission shifting issues are completely gone. I have the Mild for the base and Spicy on ECT. Noah did a great job of explaining everything and was nice to deal with.

@JustDSM MagnaFlow released their new Overland series catbacks a couple years ago. Have you had a chance to test the OTT tune with this for a 2nd Gen 4.0 6-speed? I got my OTT tune recently and wondering how adding this exhaust will affect the truck along with the stock air box and K&N air filter I already have. Would I need to get a retune? I used Bobby at Sawtooth Performances in Blackfoot, ID.

We've done some pretty extensive testing with the 2G without the supercharger installed. We've tested cat-backs, y-pipes, equal length y-pipes, headers and pretty much every combination in-between.

Our testing has shown that the biggest restriction in the entire exhaust is actually the stock manifolds/cats. However, the only option that we support is to use the JBA shorty headers welded to the stock cats for a modest gain in flow over the factory manifold. We do not delete/turn off CEL's for cats being removed from long tube headers or "stolen" cats, please do not ask.

The next biggest restriction is the factory y-pipe. Most of the performance you'll gain from replacing the y-pipe will be found higher up in the RPM range. All of the available aftermarket options retain the "unequal length" design of the OE setup. The best option would be to have a custom y-pipe made of equal length design. Really transforms the sound of the 1GR engine into something special. If you're not planning on supercharging stick with a 2" ID secondary diameter with a 2.5" merge collector.

The stock exhaust on the 2G in N/A trim (ie: without a supercharger) is not really a restriction to the motor in stock form. You'll pick up a few HP at the higher end of the rev range, but you will not gain anything at all in the low to middle part of the powerband (0-3500RPM or so) with an upgraded cat-back. The Magnaflow Overland exhaust is probably my pick of all the available cat-back exhausts for the 2G Tacoma, but don't expect huge gains from it.

You will not need to update your tune for a cat-back exhaust. Feel free to bolt-on and enjoy!

Got my tune scheduled in SoCal this month April 15, at a tuning meetup.

Any advice for throttle response level for a MT?

Is it reasonable to expect the lightest setting will be better than stock? Will it be better by a bunch?
