When I first purchased my Tacoma, I wanted to lift straight to 6". I ended just starting with 3.5" But, I love how it looks at 6" , but I often heard that there are cons overtime when lifting it that high.

If you use a drop bracket lift to get the six inches you aren’t going to have problems over time. I’d probably say less issues than a standard 3”. Install is a bit more involved. Depending what you do in the rear you might end up with more axle wrap.

Cutting the frame. That is irreversible.

Well technically you can save the piece you cut out and weld it back in later.

Lifting any amount at all has negative effects.
I lifted a 4Runner years ago and swore I’d never do that to a vehicle again . Stock is best . Reliability .. all your suspension and steering geometry is correct. The truck handles better and is more fuel efficient.
call me boring, but it’s not worth it. And yes I off-road my truck . Probably more than most guys . A stock Tacoma with the locking rear diff will go as many places as you need to go in a truck. If you need a 6 inch lift and 35’s to make it up a trail, it’s a lot cheaper and easier to just get an atv and keep your daily driver unharmed and highway friendly.
    That’s just my experience.
