3rd gen headlight tab reinforcement/repair

Yep, I think we’re talking about the same one.

 

I can dig into that. Looks like there is a lot of opportunity to make something that fits into whatever may remain on the light and then have a mounting point

 

Threw mine on last night! Pretty perfect fit (besides my whole front clip sitting wonky). They tab right in and I just used Jd weld plastic bonder to glue them in. My headlights used to bounce on hard hits and atleast in the first drive last night, the stiffer tabs got rid of the bounce. Super good solution to the thin tabs, and could definitely use these to repair totally broken tabs. I've gone through about 3 sets of headlights due to them just breaking/falling out haha.

 

Didn't even realize mine was broken already.

I will just start including these in the kits

 

I will buy a set for the 2020+ OEM LED headlights!

 

Unfortunately these won't work for the OEM LEDs, I know for sure one of the tabs on the top and the side tab are very different.

I have an OEM LED on order and will be making some for that once it arrives.

 

Any luck on making a set for the Morimotos?

 

I have do not have access to test fit on the MM however I shipped a set to in2seconds as the pictures he sent me looked like the MM tabs were identical to the OEM ones.

Shipping may take a bit but hopefully he can chime in here in the near future to let us know if they work with the MM.

I now have 5 kits ready. These reinforce the top two tabs or repair the top two and the side tab.

Welp, thought I was done.

Lesson here, don't make assumptions.

Went to double check fitment on the opposite headlight. Only designed off one side since everything has been perfectly symmetrical.

Welp, my lower tab is massively busted. In fitting the repair part I realized that the overall area for gluing can be made much larger. What I have would probably work, but imo is marginal.

So back to cad to tighten fitment and make this better.

I just saw your post and wanted to commend you on fixing an issue that seems to an on-going problem in the OEM design. Should I ever need a fix or meet up with someone first hand I will send them your way, well done! @Firn

 

Led light arrived.

One top tab looks the same. The lower tab is similar and may only take minor revisions to the cad file to be made to fit. The top inner tab however is a complete redesign.
