Hello TW family - yesterday I had new takeoffs I got on CL mounted on my truck with the existing tires I had at my local Toyota dealership. I noticed after getting home and cleaning up the excess lube on the wheels there was new marks (pictured) that were not there before. Not the end of the world but disappointed in the service performed to say the least.

My question is...is there a method/ product that can remove these marks or a way I can diminish them so it is less noticeable to me??? TIA

Since those wheels are clear coated, you can start with an all purpose wax that has some polishing aspects to it. You can use Meguiars scratch x which is a pretty useful for something like this. Also remember when cleaning in the future to use a clear coat safe wheel cleaner.

Yep. I’d start with the all in one wax as it’s the least aggressive not that the scratch x is aggressive. Keep us posted.

Do you have a product recommendation for the all in one wax?

I personally like all the griots products. Meguiars makes a cleaner wax that has polishing properties it’s a good start.

Lightly wet sand it with 2500 or 3000 and polish. If you don't your just polishing the scratch. You need to level the finish of the scratch to the clear.

I'd leave them as is. Any sanding is going to make them worse and remove the clear.

How deep are the scratches? My general rule is that if you can feel them with your fingernail, they're beyond polishing out and you'll just cause more damage by trying. I'd go back to the dealership and register a complaint.

Go wheeling and put real scratches in them, then these tiny ones will disappear.

No true at all. A leveling with a 2500 grit or 13 micron with polish will make it go away. Been detailing cars for 38 years and I have done 100s of wheel polishing. The wheel clear is pretty good these days. I can make that scratch go away, just got to have the know how!
