Good morning. Tonight and tomorrow night are the best night for viewing the 6 planets.

Grab a pair of binoculars and head outside around sunset Monday and for a few days after. With a favorable weather forecast in Maryland, we’ll see a rare celestial parade of five planets, a crescent moon and a star cluster in the western sky.

The alignment — led by the star cluster Messier 35 from the left, followed by Mars, the moon, Uranus, Venus and Jupiter — starts about 20 minutes after sunset — that’s at 7:24 p.m. in the Baltimore region. And if you look down at your feet you will see the sixth planet, Earth.

I hope conditions for viewing are favorable tomorrow night. We are off to a rare Monday night concert tonight.

Good morning 60+ can't believe it's almost April already. When I was young I couldn't wait till I turned 18 and graduated high school. Then 21 now that seems like the time just flew by with mile stones along the way; married, kids, a couple jobs, a few moves. It's amazing how fast time just seems to go. I've got a few projects that are waiting for the snow to go. The 5 ft piles around the house are going to be here till close to the end of April. My first year of semi retirement has gone by like a blur. One year ago today I left a field of 40+ years in construction supply and service. Building doors, windows and the last ten fixing/ replacing defective components in new homes and buildings under warranty. Sometimes I miss the challenge of dealing with something that is installed and figuring out the fastest fix. Many times that shouldn't have warranted. The true product defects were easy. The install or user errors were the ones that made retirement nessasary.

Sorry for the rant I'm sure guys that turned wrenches hated to get cars in that someone else " fixed" I turned wrenches early after high school. But I also knew my limitations and only took on the things I was good at, working with wood and creating things was what was enjoyable to me.

    Morning all:

The tax preparer called and said my taxes were done, small refund from the state :), and I owe the IRS quite a bit even after the quarterlies I sent in :(, the good news is that I owe no penalties since I paid in as much tax as I paid last year. :spending:
They say that over 40% pay no income tax, I sure aint one of them!

On the other side you pay in because of income , once heard you can be miserable and broke or you can be miserable and with money, but at least with money you can enjoy doing it. It would be nice to not have to pay taxes once you turn 65. Seems like I could find better ways to spend my money then the government.... Now that I'm retired I wish I had kept my boat. I hear fish calling. but the boat had it's own set of problems I don't miss. Such as winter storage.and the fact at least in the area you couldn't leave even the lifejackets in it so someone wouldn't barrow them permanently.

@ndoldman59, hmmm, "It would be nice to not have to pay taxes once you turn 65." Now there's an idea. I changed careers when I was 60 and over the last 6 years my income has more than doubled. As things stand today, I figure I'll need to work until I'm 72 or 73 so I can retire; if I didn't need to pay taxes between now and then I'd be able to retire a year or three earlier.

I would guess you are about 66. With a full retirement for SSI would be 66.5 if that happens you can work and draw next year and earn all you want. .you will still pay taxes but it could be what you need to retire before 72. Unless you enjoy what you do. I did but but the work took its toll on body. Especially on my wrists. I could have had a surgery on the right one that would have been devastating to me. I'm hoping in time the can perfect a wrist replacement. I can still use it for now before they were talking to boxer's repair. Plates on both sides of the hand and limited use of my fingers. Screw that.

I retired at 52. Not rich... just prepared. I've set myself up to live on less. I took SS as soon as I could and bank money from it on the regular. Net worth is up every year. Living on less only means money. I eat well, drive decent cars, and have more projects than I know how to do. But stretching a dollar has become a fun challenge and my wife and I love the fun in it. It's not for everyone. Financial security comes in many forms.

Yeah, I enjoy what I do very much, which is a good thing because ten years ago I discovered my (now former) business partner had five lines of credit in my name right at the same time as my wife's small business failed. We ended up starting over again at 57 with literally not enough spare cash for a trip to the movies; when I was 60 my manager voluntold me I was moving into a new group within the company which was leading the Conversational AI effort; the first year sucked, but since then, well, this stuff is really fun and as a bonus, the pay is more than I've ever made before.

A little something every chance we get.
Happy noon, porch Pals and Sue! All done at the heart doc and Lowe's. Numbers were rock solid, but says he can't fix getting older. Enjoying a Thundercloud Sub, then finish some errands.

I could use one on a local river, BUT, it's either have someone pick me up miles downstream, or paddle back upstream to get back to the truck, that paddling upstream against current is no longer on my bucket list!

I bought a high end inflatable kayak a few years ago. It’s solid like a zodiac, the floor is rigid you can stand up in it, only weighs about 50 lbs, inflates in minutes. Rated for class 4 rivers (which you’ll never see this old guy on). I also got an electric motor for it. I troll using the electric motor and also paddle it when I want. I fish mountain lakes and some streams in it. It’s awesome, great fun.
