Decided to get some of my dying on video from this 15 mile ride.

I didn’t film west ridge both ways, its not as exciting just technical riding.

Hyde - I don’t know this trail well. It’s not my favorite to do from the top, but I went to the top twice.

Quarry Road - probably second most fun trail at park… though it’s close for 1st.

edit. Sorry shared same link twice forst time

I love snow and the skiing, but Utah is wild this year. So jealous you're getting riding in. Its 35* and we got 3 inches of snow today.

Just checked back on the Adidas / Five Ten sale, I don't know if they added some shoes to the sale or I just missed them earlier. I picked up another pair of Five Ten Freeriders for $40. Current pair is still doing well, but for the $40, now I have options :bananadance:

The angry mob of anti-mud Utah trail riders might actually set you on fire for doing that around here.

Is this for all trails or just smooth jump line trails?

Most of our local park stays open except for two, one newly built and one recently redone trail.
"Tails" which Fox Shox paid to have built, and "Lightening" which was completely funded by our local organization.

All other trails remain open rain or shine, just be mindful of course and dodge mud holes where possible.

Yeah, NE and the PNW are much more embracing of the sloppy ride. The reason people take issue here is it ruts out then when it warms up, then those ruts get cemented into the ground as the clay-ish dirt dries.

Same here in Northern Virginia. Everything is clay so when it is soaked the ruts form and are a pain to repair. Up until recently we also had to deal with heavy freeze thaw cycles that turn the top like inch or two of trail into a skating rink...not even rideable.

    Yeah.
Same back in the STL area. The bikers weren't the biggest problem -- the horse people would post-hole the trails in the mud without a care in the world. Most trails would recover, but some were messed up for multiple seasons (and you never see the horse people out doing trail work). Being in kind of the same mountains, I thought Bentonville might be the same, but it's a bit rockier here and things dry out more quickly.

I have no problem sharing the trails and always pull over and wait for horses, but the local authorities and commissions are quick to blame mountain biking for ruining trails while completely overlooking horses. The worst I have seen from mountain bikes is some rutting and trail widening where standing water hangs around for a while. Horses use the same trails in my local state forest and the amount of post holes they create can be astounding.

The horses decimate corners while walking, clomp through soft mud puddles which harden up, and leave the biggest piles of crap to go around. :poking:

That said, I have no problem with horses on the trails as everyone should get to use them, but when the riders say mountain bikes are a problem, I tend to take a little offense.

Yeah, have similar problems here. The thing to remember is generally speaking, horse people have more money than bike people, and that can have some not insignificant influence with trail management and local govt.

Absolutely money talks when it comes to those types of matters. The other thing I tend to lean towards is the commissioners clumping mountain bikes with dirt bikes during the conversation. Those pesky teens on their dirt bikes making a loud mess on the trails - then they see or hear of a mountain biker flying through the woods and think we are capable of spitting rooster tails as well. My i9's and heavy panting are the most offensive part of biking in nature.

Thankfully Utah riders don't seem to be impacted by the MTB/MX thing. There may have been some trepidation with E-bikes initially, but there's def been an education campaign locally if nothing else. To the point of Draper Parks and Rec having the knowledge and ability to be able to call out specifically a pair of pesky Sur-Ron riders vs regular e-bikes on the dirt jumps.
