Hey Guys! I'm curious if anyone knows if I can use the dash usb port with a usb double adapter or usb "Y" cable to use my phone for gps & my thumbdrive for music at the same time on my 2021 Tacoma TRD OffRoad? I know I can play music on my phone through the truck while using gps, just wondering if this would work also. Thanks in advance.

Seems unlikely, but I can test this later today and report back my findings.

Cool, thanks. I'm hoping I can flip back & forth onscreen display, hit music to change files/bands & then flip back to gps without having to look at my phone for safety reasons.

Isn't the dash USB only for charging? The one in the console is for media connections. I may be on drugs too.

Edit: Please ignore. It was the unicorns that made me say that.

No, I've used gps from my phone as well as playing music through my phone at the same time. The ports in the center console are for charging only. The dash port will do all this & slow charge my phone at the same time.

Tried it out using just a regular old dumb hub. I can get USB music and music from my phone in Ipod mode, but even if the phone is the only thing plugged in it won’t fire up CarPlay. I didn’t snoop the connection, but my original thought was that it wouldn’t enable CarPlay once it detects the hub and that seems to be the case. That identification happens before device enumeration so I’m expecting the same results with a powered hub. I was surprised that it delivered enough power to work the hub with both devices connected.

Ok, thanks for all your help. I'll keep doing it the way I've been doing it. Thanks again.
