I recently purchased a 2010, 2WD, single cab, 4-cylinder, 5-speed Tacoma from my Aunt after my Uncle passed away. It has 151,000 original, one-owner miles on it. All service performed by their local Toyota dealership in Tennessee and the records were kept in the glove box. Due to his failing health, he only put one tank of gas into the truck last year. I drove it back home from Tennessee to West Central Alabama and had the oil changed today since the oil was 18-months old according to the windshield decal. Should I spend the money to have the other fluids flushed & re-filled or just drive it until the next scheduled maintenance window and take it to my Toyota dealership? This truck was purchased as a work truck and it needs to last me many more years.

Check their records go off them, if there is any.
If it was me, I would need to know everything about my truck. I would get all fluids changed, for a “Base” starting point. But I’m very OCD with that stuff. You will get lots of opinions here but just my 2 cents

Changed all drain plugs to Dimple Magnetic plugs UNI filter on air pump
Change the fluids etc. ASAP as others have said then you can sleep better, besides you might find something that needs to be done NOW.

Earliy bird , ---well you know the rest.

Take a close look at the receipts. Hopefully they’re in order. That’ll begin to give you an idea of what kind of service department it was. Hopefully they did good work. But you might notice some shady stuff.

Look at the recommended maintenance intervals. Hopefully the dealership at least made recommendations when things like spark plugs came up due.

When you had the oil changed, did they mention it came out looking milky? The fill cap looked milky?

Then look at the recent work they did. Did they leave oil and dirty hand prints all over? Leave anything loose? Cross threaded fasteners?

If you don’t see anything fishy in the receipts and the work looks good, you’re probably ok to just continue following the recommended intervals.

The 1 thing I’d be concerned about is the battery. Try to find when it was last replaced. Make sure the terminals aren’t acid covered. Give it a load test. If it’s more than 3 years old and the load test result is low, you might want to replace it. Battery don’t like sitting long periods of time like that. But since you made a long drive, it might be ok.
