Engine miss slight load around 1500 to 2200 RPM.
Does not throw any codes. Took to dealer. Tech rode along, verified the
miss. More like a slight stutter. Nothing shows up on diagnostics.
Obviously more noticeable when towing trailer.
Bad thing is, tech said he doesn't know if Toyota will do anything.
Whaaaaat? Have to wait and see. Any ideas? Anybody else have this?

if toyota wont do anything maybe you could start with making sure all your spark plugs are tight and the coil packs are on securely

That's not the response I would be satisfied with. Get the misfire recorded on video in case it's goes to the corporate level.

yea, i've heard of people discovering a loose plug. i'd ask for them to check the torque. might be easier to diy.

It is 2023 . There are cheap and widely available odb2 tools that can log the data and precisely identify misfire and all other parameters.

Some scan tools have a live misfire counter that you can run to compare across the multiple cylinders. Maybe the misfire doesn't happen frequently enough to trip the ECU monitor.

Toyota does not flag the MIL until it calculates 200 misfires. This is because Toyota uses a calculation based on assumption.

@Woodsie, there is this note in the manual. Doesn't specifically mention towing, but could be what's going on:

It’s been checked twice now for diagnostic codes. Nothin shows up. No knocking. Not noticeable till slight (very slight) lugging. Higher gears going up hills. Please don’t insult me by saying I don’t drive a stick right…..Probably been driving manual trannys longer than most of you have been alive. HA!

Find a new dealer. Tech shouldve at least drove it with or without you
Misfires are usually ignition/fuel related. Start there. Coil, loose plug, loose wire.

If you're coming from a 2nd gen tacoma tacoma then yes the new ones are weaker in lower rpms. The 3rd gens like some revs to keeper out of the lugging area.

Regular fuel. Not always from same place. Good idea to try hitest. No cap. Tonneau cover. My thought is a bad coil but again no misfire code. Always same RPM range. Tech rode with me for like 15 miles he acknowledged miss and documented.
