Hello there, I have owned several Toyota Tacoma's over the years, currently I own a 2012 Prerunner TRD Off Road 2WD Automatic V6 with over 185 K. I thought it would be a good idea to change the u-joints since they can't be greased and my driving style. Well that was a mistake, I went to pick it up and it vibrated so bad I turned around and asked them to fix it correctly. They replaced center support and when I drove it, still had vibration, just not as severe. Took it back and they came up with it needed a new driveline, so I took it to another shop where they diagnosed it as the transmission. Next shop took it to driveline specialist to inspect and give opinion. I wish I had never taken it in, in the first place but was just not excited about doing the work myself, but it couldn't have been much worse. Out of ideas, except to remove everything and start over. Thanks for listening. Take care.

What's the maintenance schedule for the u-joints? Often times if you ask, you shall receive. If the shop hears that you want new u-joints, they'll give them to you even if you don't need them...

    Welcome!

My 2016 TRD Sport is in the shop as we speak getting all the U-joints replaced as well as the carrier bearing. Same issue, has been vibrating like crazy at 28 mph and 40-41 mph since last Thursday. Drives fine at all other speeds.

Mechanic said all five of the U-joints were shot, which is surprising to me for a 2016, but I don't know how the previous owner treated it. Looking forward to hearing how yours comes out.
