Hello, my name is Marcial and I have a 2019 SR5 in metallic grey.

I currently have no modifications, but I'm going to start with new wheels and tires. I am debating between the BFG KO2's and the Toyo Open Country III. I am looking at a 285/70/R17 with a negative offset (I forgot how much someone said to go for but I think its -0.10 or -10?). For wheels I am looking at Method 305's (Double Black) or some Black Rhino Arches (Matte Black).

The only thing I know for sure is I need a 2" or greater lift, and one option is to install a 2/1 spacer in the front and leaf block (I think that's what it's called) in the rear. Any advice on how much lift I need, if any chop jobs are necessary, and good places to buy tires and rims is appreciated.

Go for the Toyo tires over BF.

Having to cut/trim/cab mount chop varies. Be prepared to do it all with 285's. Wheel offset and width will play a huge part in how much cut/trim you need.

Last thing, as easy and affordable as it is, try to avoid a spacer lift. Most people end up upgrading later anyways, so do it right the first time. I'd start with bilstein 5100 shocks and an add a leaf. Or better.

    Welcome to TW!

What's a good amount of offset to have with 285 tires that will give the tires a look that's sort-of peeking out from the fender and not completely flush?

Do a 17x8 or 17x8.5 with 0 offset. A negative offset will only hurt you. People go to negative offset when they are running wider tires like 35x12.5 17 or 315/70/17 and they need to move the tire away from the upper control arm but that negative offset will move the tire closer to the body mount when turning.

    Enough for now
17 is the diameter of the wheel rim. 8-8.5 is the width of the wheel or rim the tire is mounted on.

I recommend researching a little more and understanding wheel and tire dimensions and dynamics before going any farther. It’s valuable info and will save you $$$ and cutting and pain in the long run.
