Getting ready for summer

I've always wanted to find a fairly good tent for the back of the truck and came across a sweet deal on Amazon.ca .. only 2 things I'll have to see if they hold up. The rods kinda just sit ontop of the box sides .. I did find a place to kinda wedge them because I have a soft tonneau cover installed and the other is where one of the metal hooks attaches to the truck... if it's windy it'll move around scratching the truck .. I stole our mismatched socks that have no pairs and shoved them in the bag to wedge between the hook and truck ..

Second .. I bought a trd pro grill from the states and hoping it crosses the border. Has anyone had an issue with moving that dcc sensor? I have to have this damn grill and the fact that canada won't sell without a pro vin pisses me off!!

 

@3JOH22A would be the only one i know that has a tent in that style, might be able to give you pointers with preventing it from moving around

The VIN thing is North America wide to what i know. basically any and all "heritage" grilles or "pro" grilles are floating around are just China copies. It shouldn't be stopped at the border unless there is drugs being smuggled in in the shape of the grille but at that point, you got different problems

Follow any guide out there yank out the old, smother it in silicone calk or something and slap it in would be my best guess

 

The two leading truck tent brands, Rightline Gear and Napier, both use plastic hooks instead of metal ones...

• You can put a couple of layers of heat shrink over the hook so it acts as a rubber coating.
• At the wheelwell location, if the strap has enough slack, you can hook to the shock bucket instead of the fender flare.

The Rightline tent I got is a canopy with no bottom, so you don't have to empty the bed to use it:

 

I had ordered a Napier (camo pattered one) and when I unfolded it, the plastic liner inside the tent stuck to each other and ripped apart .. glad I was checking it prior to.using it. Returned it and found this one.

Thanks for the advice for that middle clip. It's short but I think a short bungee would fix that on either side... and no scratches ... thanks fornthe idea!

I'll be bringing a tarp that can fit over this tent should it let me down!! I'll update when I use it ..

The grill got canceled as the site 'suddenly' can't ship this item to Canada ...

Anyone had luck finding a pro grill .. Amazon wants Ike 960 for one on there...

China Repros use (allegedly) the same stamps as the OEM ones. There is very little difference other than Quality control. ultimately it might be a hair wonky, but it all looks the same when you ram a deer in the middle of the night

 

I have ordered 2 of them ...both repops off Amazon and I can't tell the difference.
The TSS bullsh%t garnish should be an option you can order with them...screws to the back of the grill...easy peasy.
