I finally got lucky and found a matching Magnetic Grey Leer 100XR used off Craigslist. Anyways, I bought the EZ Wheeler 300100 7-way harness to hopefully make things a little easier as wiring is not my specialty. Long story short, I don't see where I'm supposed to insert this harness into the factory harness. There is no simple, round 7 way connector in the harness to disconnect and insert this thing. There is just the standard 7-way plug under the bumper and more rectangular plug slightly upstream in the harness. Anyone have experience with the EZ Wheeler 300100 or the similar 300200, that might know more?

I'm sure the answer is just staring me in the face but I can't sort this out for the life of me.
    Thanks

Your first picture, above, is your attachment point. Just unplug the trailer connector and put the new harness in between the plug and the connector. Here's how mine looks:

Note: The hardest part of this job, by far, is running the 12 volt hot lead (the pink wire, to the right in the picture) all the way up to the battery. I followed existing wiring along the frame, and zip-tied the new wire into place. Fortunately Leer puts an eyelet on the end of that wire, and so you just connect it to an existing bolt on the positive terminal of the battery.

The "business end" of the Leer harness, encased in a loom, runs up a gap behind the fender, just in front of the driver's side tail light. I drilled a hole in the upper corner of the composite bed for the wires to go through. These then plug into a junction box on the Leer shell. This picture shows the wire loom emerging from the hole (with grommet) and then doubling back under the lip of the shell toward the junction box. The box is mounted in the corner of the shell.

Refer to picture (1) in your cited thread. You unplug the harness by pressing the 4 tabs (one of which is clearly shown in your first picture, above). You rock the plug out while pressing the tabs, one at a time. There is no need to disassemble the receptacle itself. Look at the ends of your new pass-through harness to see how this thing is put together.

Yeah, that is what I thought as well but isn’t the case. If you look at image 3 in the reference thread you can see that when you release the 4 tabs the 7-pin connected actually comes out the front of the housing. The housing doesn’t split behind the bumper mount and decouple. You can see further down the thread showing the interior of the housing where the wires connect internally. It’s possible the harness could snap in there but I’d have to find a new way to mount the other end to the mount bracket as the mounting is integrated to the original end assembly.

I know that might not make a lot of sense but I honestly don’t think this kit is compatible with a gen 2.5.
