I don't know anything about this website \nor do I have any insight into the data collection methods used in this analysis but I do know I experienced a bad case of confirmation bias while reading it meaning I wasn't willing accept it as correct or factual.

For me personally with over 30 years as a scientist and engineer, I have to avoid confirmation bias in any form as it prevents me from accomplishing my job. And yet, here I am - unwilling to accept the conclusion of this article and questioning their data and/or their methods of gathering that data.

Why? For the last 40 years I've owned a variety of Toyota trucks: 1st & 2nd Gen Tundras, 1st & 3rd Gen Tacomas, an FJ Cruiser and two early mini pickups before that name Tacoma appeared. I have used and abused them in all manner and until this recent 3rd Gen Tacoma, the only failure I experienced was a day when the distributor mag pickup in one of the mini pickups failed and prevented it from starting. That was a $7 part and 15 minutes to replace. No other failures over hundreds of thousand of miles.

I realize this article is only referring to Tacoma trucks and I will admit that my 2019 has been a bit of a disappointment with the dreaded burnt valve in Cyl #1 and a truly crappy performing 6 speed automatic. Both things have been corrected under warranty and I don't expect to experience any more problems with it.

I'm going to go out on a limb here and predict that most forum members that read this will also experience the same sort of confirmation bias as I have.

Chatgpt can spit the same article, or one claiming the Tacoma is best, in the blink of an eye.
    Don't get fooled by ai.

AI is amazing. It can also make you doubt your marriage of 40 years or even your existence. Stick with known sources.

Apologies if this is a repost, a recent stroke that affected my vision has put me behind the curve in my reading.

Apologies accepted. I suffered a serious stroke also, and know how hard it is to get back what many take for granted.

lower ball joint I don't really know why that would be a common problem aside from offroaders smacking it like I did mine. The recall they mentioned is for models nearly 20 years old...
auto trans failing at high mileages...isn't that kinda normal?
DRL issue that has long been documented and long since solved?

Seems like they're basing reliability score off some pretty specific circumstances. I'll concede that Tacoma might not be the most reliable when someone can show me another truck that can drive 2 hours home on the freeway with busted trans cooler line squirting all over the engine bay.

Pretty sure somebody said they included stats from a known 1st gen problem that isn't even relevant on the 3rd gen

I like warm flaky biscuits with a sausage pattie and dollop of Boysenberry jam. :hungry:

Motors on my biscuits sound chewy and greasy.

Yet mine cranks up every time I ask it, does what I ask of it, doesn’t break, and I can sell it for a profit after driving it for 4 years….I trust articles these days on anything about as much as I trust that laptop story.

Lol, that "article" is doing exactly what is what designed to do.. trigger normal/rational people into clicking the link and then they have to see the ads. That's it, just the ads.. that's the only reason that article exists. As soon as you start trying to make an argument against it or some kind of rational rebuttal, in your head or whatever.. or even try to understand where they're coming from, you're giving the entire venture too much credit.

It's clickbait, it's the journalistic equivalent of a display of chewing gum next to cash register at the gas station
